Article: Tennessee’s Pearl not coming to Heights

I see what you mean. Well, if Oregon had it's way, those folks would love to hire Izzo and considering the money Nike would offer, it would definitely be a higher paying job.

pay is an afterthought at his level. Wherever he goes, the pay will be fine.

I think Huggins is probably done bouncing.

For sure. I don't think Huggins would leave his alma mater.

Just curiously, Few was mentioned, but does anyone else besides me have a suspicion that he will bounce eventually?

Got it.

As far as Roy Williams is concerned, I misread the initial post, so my bad.

I'd add Mark Few of Gonzaga to the "not going anywhere list"

I assume, like every other Final Four since he's been at Tennessee, he'll be there watching and doing some commentary for CBS.
Whew, good! That makes me feel better!

I figured he'd be somewhere interviewing for a job, because you know, that's all he ever does.

Calhoun and Geno don't even acknowledge each other's existence. Doesn't seem to have hurt their programs.

Summit has a different style, right or wrong or indifferent she does things a little differently than Geno.

Seems like I'm causing some confusion by answering two posts in one. Sorry about that.

Getting many responses to my inquiry about Roy Williams. I know he's moved from Kansas to UNC, but I don't think he's going anywhere else, unless it's to the NBA.

Mark Few has been at Gonzaga for many years. While it may be offered, it doesn't seem to me that he'll go to another job, but than again never say never I guess.

my question was a joke. Few has already been mentioned.

Uhm, no they aren't. Lane Kiffin has made this fan base so paranoid :eek:lol:

Most coaches are driven by the need to compete and be successful. Any coach worth his weight in salt desires the top jobs and unless they have one they keep their options open for an upgrade.

If you don't believe this there is no need to debate you because you have already lost.

A lengthy fight with hat and I'm not involved? Dammit!!

Ok, I'll add a couple of things:

1. The BC jobs sucks and Pearl was never going, so the loyalty thing was disingenuous.

2. It's also standard practice for everyone in the business. I notice that hat has always been quiet about Calipari's situation with Memphis, which was about the worst case of "snake" behaviour I've seen.

3. Hat's almost blindingly irrational hatred of Pearl and his resulting exagarrated statements about the Arizona job aren't entirely true. Pearl did some inquiries, but it isn't like he was campaigning for the job as hat suggests.

4. Hat specifically said to methat Pearl will "flame out in two years" in regards to the comment earlier. That means the end of next year. So, yes, the time fram, however ridiculous, is still open.

5. I do think it's conceivable that Pearl could, at this point or in the future, turn down a blue blood job offer. Two years ago, no way in hell he turns down Indiana. However, can pretty much match anyone at this point in terms of money and, if he sees he can be as successful here as anywhere else, why bother building another prgram while in your mid 50s when you already have one. It's not like leaving Milwaukee, a mid-major. However, I think it's more out of practicality than "loyalty" for him to stay.

If he gets to the point where he's successful enough that a UCLA or Duke, whomever, wants him, I could see him staying at UT, but not for loyalty reasons, necessarily.
