Assuming BO wins, congrats to the following:

Exactly, the GOP is a joke at this point.

Hat, you have to like Bobby Jindal.
What I've seen so far is encouraging. As best I can tell, he's close in ideology to what has become a near extinct political animal, the nonbigoted Dixiecrat.

Yes. Something that upwards of 75% of Americans agreed with doing...but was vetoed by by the guy that shares the view of Jesus coming back to earth one day trailing clouds of glory while reigning death and destruction.

was privately funded research banned? Get over this mindset that it's the govt's job to do all this crap for people and we are all better off.

So I wonder what will happen first. Will there be another terrorist attack on US soil, or will Iran nuke Isreal because they know Obama will not respond in kind?

The folly was ever engaging such a contest.
without a doubt. Fiscal conservatives cringed with every utterance.

The shapers of McCains policy positions and campaign strategy were freaking idiots for fighting on Obama's / FDR's turf.

Privately funded research wasn't banned. But the point was it shows how far the dogmatism of the man in charge goes when making rational decisions the rest of the country can see. He did subscribe to the practice of only allowing existing lines to be used. Even by privately funded research. I would get over this mindset of the government thinking it is their responsibility to dictate how scientific research is done through the lens of religious dogmatism. Given his views and the views of the one's that put him in office, they would have blocked all privately funded research too if they could.

Yes, let us do it ourselves, but only the way the government dictates. That is much better.

so if a company wants to use their own funds to try and prove they work then go for it. It's amazing how well the system works when gov't doesn't get involved. Asking the gov't to fund it is no better than a "will work for food" sign.

now you're just saying what they might have done and not what actually happened. All the would haves in the world don't make it true

how about the gov't keeps their hands out of it all? It's my money and if I want it to go to stem cell research I will help fund the private studies myself.

I agree with the bold above. But that is not what happened when they mandated no new stem cell lines be created. They killed any help to the research going forward, and hamstringed the existing research. Government got involved, and it was bad for the research by all angles.

Given the rest of your post, I would assume you would be against all faith based initiatives too?

outside of the presidential race there weren't that many to choose. I cant remember one (I voted three weeks ago)
There were several in Texas....probably wasted my vote but the Repub was repugnant and the Dem would basically cede the state back to Mexico.

Other than the presidential ones, there weren't any in Bama that I could remember.

I had voted for the Libertarian candidate in every presidential election I had been eligible to vote in, until this one. The only way I would vote for Bob Barr is if there was an election to choose someone to throw in front of a speeding bus.
