Wrong, there is no need for a special descriptor of things we don't believe in. Are you an achristian? I am, but why am I not labeled as such? I don't believe in christianity. Period.
There is no special descriptor for a plethora of things you or I don't believe in.
Why would that be necessary? If someone asks you what color you think the sky is, do you respond with "It's not red, orange, yellow, purple, etc?" No, you say it's blue. Likewise, if someone asks if you believe there is a God, you answer "no". You don't go through the list of every religion you can think of an proclaim yourself a non-believer in each.
Because it's more informative than saying you aren't a Christian.Exactly, the descriptor is a label for things we believe in, not what we dont' believe in.
Do you believe in Christianity? Yes.
Do I believe in Christianity? No. I'm not labled an "achristian".
Do I believe in a deity? No. So why label me an atheist?

The real question is why do Christians celebrate Jesus's birthday with pagan rituals? Does that not strike anyone as odd and hypocritical?
See, I don't care if you use it wrt me.
Who made a special rule?I understand, but in normal conversation that descriptor is never used. Bottomline is there isn't a descriptor for every thing we don't believe in. We make a special rule for God.
At the end of the day I don't really care, I just think "atheist" is a word that shouldn't even exist.
I think it has to do with integrating converts to Christianity. I believe a lot of that influence came from that Roman Emperor who forced everyone to be Christian. The name escapes me right now.
