athiests and agnostics know more about religion than churchgoers

so what about all the people before jesus? did they go to hell at 32 bc after millions of years of no hell?

not yet.....judgement day is coming one day in the future (if you believe what the Bible says)

fyp.....
don't know....am dang glad he did

Got to go guys.....have a great night

No, HOW? You can't "change" your mind in a temporal series if you are outside of time itself, and all-powerful.

He had already decided to "change," at the least, at that juncture when it came. So why two different deals? That isn't just. If it isn't just, it isn't good. The only options are that we are all at the mercy of the most evil and cruel petty being imaginable and are just his ant farm, or there is nothing there and it is a product of our own psychology, as manifested throughout ancient cultures who happened not to have their tradition survive intact to the modern age.

That's a matter of interpretation. There are many christian sects that do not believe nonbelievers go to hell. or at least believe that the only way to go to hell is to reject god when you die (i.e. to meet god and then say he doesn't exist which obviously most of us wouldn't do). The "i don't hate you, but i just want you to know you are going to hell" argument is really a ridiculous one. You are still telling me i'm going to hell. Not exactly a friendly thing to say.

Better than "I know you're going to hell, but I'm not going to warn you.", isn't it?

I realize I'm coming in late to this discussion. Still trying to catch up.

My 4th grade teacher told me that my dog was going to hell because it wasn't a christian

I've been told animals don't have souls. I asked why animal abuse was thus immoral, and they said it was it degrading to humanity... Not really sure on any of that.

EDIT: Plus there's that "Balaam's talking donkey" thing in the OT, that really makes one wonder.

So if they don't have a soul then they can't go to hell, right?

So what's the point?

Ballpoint??

Maybe not, but they have more fun....

I have a friend who grew up in the Greek Orthodox church.

She said during high school she was all the envy because when kids went to other churches for picknicks it was all straight laced but when her church had a picknick they had up a big Budweiser banner and tubs of cold beer all over the place.

Some people have estimated 60-70 million Christians in China, which would put them close to the U.S. in terms of shear numbers.

Even so Christians in China are routinely persecuted.

In China only one state sponsored church is sanctioned and there will be a government agent in attendence usually and one is not permitted to preach or teach certain things that the communist party deems dangerous.

The only way around that is private meetings in what are sometimes called 'house churches' but if caught the authorities will arrest people and even tear down the house.

I'm pretty sure it is also frowned upon to try to witness about Christian beliefs on the street although I'm sure that isn't uniform across the country, probably some places are stricter and some are more lenient.

But the bottom line is that what one might consider religious freedom isn't the same there as here.

Mal. 3:6 - "I am the Lord, I change not."

James 1:17 - "Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness"

Explain again that God changed his mind. Now he's not only a hypocrite but a liar. Someone will surely burn in hell for that.

unless you are actually god you don't know i'm going to hell for sure.

Forget how I "know" this, for the moment. If, by whatever means, I am absolutely convinced that you are going to hell, what is the benevolent course of action? To warn you or to keep it to myself.

Even Penn Jillette, who I believe is an avowed agnostic, admitted that he respected the fact that Christians would be motivated by their concern for him enough to warn him.
