Atlanta Braves II

Some interesting stuff in there, but also a fair amount of stathead gobbledygook.

My personal favorite:

Ya don't say.

Only thing they left out is voodoo.

This is what I love seeing on the Braves homepage. Wren better be making some trades then.

I'm assuming the deal will go something like this: Indians get Lowe; Braves pay vast majority of Lowe's salary, get a middling minor leaguer in return. Not a legitimate prospect or anything.

Also, Nate McLouth's option predictably not picked up. The braves shaved about $8 million in payroll this morning. Put that with the Kawakami money and there's room for a B level free agent.

Considering the other arms we have lined up behind him, this is a net gain. We improve our rotation and get money to pursue some offense.

"Lowe was dealt for 23-year-old left-hander Chris Jones, who went 7-1 with 3.36 ERA in 43 games at Kinston (A) last season. The Braves are eating all but $5 million of the $15 million remaining on the last year of Lowe's contract, sources told ESPN The Magazine's Buster Olney"

Praise God

just realized that Kawakami is now gone too. It's actually more like $13-14 million that came off the books yesterday.

That's disappointing. Really wish someone would buy this team, that would actually spend the big money it takes to be great.
