He got the better end of this deal, IMO, opened a spot for Cain, and kept Myers.

Really would have liked acquiring Myers and Cain and signing Beltran to play LF, but alas. It is what it is. Wonder what Frank has up his sleeve.

You never know. I remember reading somewhere that JJ would have been the third best free agent pitcher on the market, if he were a free agent. Not sure if that was before/after C.C. resigned. Regardless, many teams looking for pitching. Braves have a surplus.

If JJ hadn't been on the DL so much the last two years, I would agree. But he hasn't been. Drops his value.

Hope they get rid of him, IF they get good value. We really need more hitting in a major way. More Uggla types. wish we could sign Bourn long term, but know we can't.

Good news for the Braves. The Phillies just signed Ryan Madsen to a 4 year contract @ $11 million plus a vesting option for a 5th year @ $13 million.

Dumb contract, but it's not like it'll hamper the Phillies down the road. They'll just eat the balance and move on. Must be nice.

The core of that team is getting so freaking old that I don't really blame them for taking on a bad contract or two in an effort to win next year. Their window is closing.

Rockies are very interested in Martin Prado.

By the way, we need to sign Andruw Jones. He absolutely devoured lefties last year. Could you imagine a bench of:

Andruw Jones
Matt Diaz

I dont see a fit with us and the Rockies at all.

Madson deal isn't done but Papelbon has to be licking his chops at that precedent. 4/44 with an option to 5/57. Wow.
