Heyward has almost as much potential as Harper. Heyward was projected as a 40 homer guy in the minors.

Heyward has better eye from what I've read.

Because of Heyward's injury problems, we forgot how incredibly high his ceiling is.

Hilarious to be comparing a 19 year old kid who hasn't swung at a pitch above AA with LeBron James. There's no such thing as a can't-miss prospect in baseball.

Comparing the prospective peaks of Heyward and Harper is pointless. Even for a message board.

You guys might want to conference Brad Komminsk in while you have this discussion.

I literally shudder every time I read that name. You realize that guy played parts of 9 seasons in MLB with a .218 career average!? Think about how hard that is to do; especially as a corner outfielder.

I have no idea how the hell he hung around that long. He was awful. He hit the grand slam that won the Goody's million dollar Home Run Jackpot [1] and that was his whole career. Yet at the time, he was supposed to be as can't miss as a prospect can be. The scouts all universally thought he was the next Dale Murphy.

It's a long, long way from being Babe Ruth in the low minors to doing it in the majors. Debating Harper vs Heyward is like looking at the Rivals list of top high school QBs and arguing over which is likely to win the most Super Bowls.

[1] (or however much it was -- all I know is they radically scaled back the top prize after Komminsk cashed in for somebody)

Bob Uecker would like a word with you. Not an OF, but still...

I watched Teheran and Delgado both today.

I understand Teheran's hype, but I don't understand why Delgado is undersold. That guy has fantastic stuff.

I loved everything I saw from Delgado last year. Great stuff, excellent demeanor. He looked as comfortable as if he'd been in the majors for five years. I'm going to be a little bummed out if he's the one that ends up getting traded.

I know Wren hasn't instilled alot of confidence in the fans recently, but there's no way he trades Delgado. Anyone with eyes knows Delgado is better. Potential gets GMs fired and even if Teheran has more potential he's not ready yet.

There are so many "ifs" with this club that I don't agree with just any trade - UNLESS it is a clear fix for some of those "ifs".

The bandaid trades get old. (Maybe this is why he's been so reluctant to pull the trigger)

Teheran is def. better, but the gap isn't as wide as most seem to thing. Both will sitting at 1 & 2 in the order sooner than later.

Do not judge Julio by his cup of coffee last year or spring training. He put up some the best numbers ever @ AAA while being the one of the youngest SP ever in the history of the league. He will be our next Cy Young winner. Give him time to adjust.

Delgado should get more credit than he recieves. The numbers he put up down the stretch were insane for a rookie. Really excited about this guy, he seems to have really turned the corner after his so-so days at Mississippi

In fairness to Wren, "bandaid trades" are almost all that there is. Established major league players with more than a year left on their contracts at reasonable salaries just aren't generally available on the trade market, so just about anytime you trade for a starter, it's a one- or two-year solution at most. (E.g., Michael Bourn.) It's easy to see why Wren would be reluctant to burn one of these young pitchers for a year or two of an average player. You don't want to trade Adam Wainwright away for two years of Melky Cabrera.

The problem for Wren is that having all of these guys become major-league ready simultaneously is sort of like having six free drink tickets left when the bar closes in 20 minutes. He has more assets than he'll ever be able to use himself, and at least a couple of them are at their absolute maximum value right now. And flipping one of them for a merely average OF bat might make all the difference for this team this season.

Wainwright trade. SMH. One excellent year of JD Drew < Years of Wainwright dominance. Horrible trade, Teixeria trade wasn't much better.

Tex trade was significantly worse when you consider the subsequent trade. The compensation pick when Tex signed with NY turned into Mike Trout.

If you really want to scratch your head about the Wainwright trade, go look at who was in the Braves' rotation at the time. The offense blew the doors off the NL the year before, but the rotation was slop.....so the Braves traded away a great SP prospect to shore up the offense when Sheffield left. A completely unnecessary panic move. They could have plugged in any random OF off the scrap heap into RF for a year and still won the division easily.

Unlike Vizzy and Julio, he has three breaking pitches he can use.

All he need is one dominant one.

You watch Heyward yesterday? Changed his batting stance. Hands are lower too.

As bad as that is, better now than after a trade depleting the pitching depth. With that being said, if Vizzy must have TJ, then O'Ventbrell can't afford to have any significant injuries.

Three reasons Vizzy's injury isn't devasting.

1) He's 21.

2) This will keep him as a starter.

3) We get this fixed young instead of an Adam Wainwright situation.
