I think people overrated him because of that .330 or whatever batting average he threw up his rookie year. They think of him as a .300 hitter, top of the lineup type guy, and he's just not. He's a .280 singles hitter who walks a little -- ie, a #7 hitter on any team that has any offensive talent whatsoever. He doesn't do anything special. If he's one of the top 10 shortstops in baseball -- which he might actually be -- then it's because the current crop of shortstops sucks, not because he's good.
He's turned out to be what I called him five years ago -- Rafael Ramirez with a slightly better bat and a terrible attitude. Still, there's no question the Braves could use him this year. It's too bad that he himself made that impossible.
