Get a couple beers in me and I'd probably go to the ballpark with a throwback #16 jersey and RAMIREZ on the back. Just for the lulz, as the kids say.

When I was 11, I went to a game and hung around afterwards to watch them interview Dale Murphy on the field. A couple of friends and I went down to get his autograph, but he had stopped signing when we got down there. Rafael Ramirez was also on the field and had seen us walk down and made a point to come over and sign autographs for us. Always like the guy after that.

I missed the TV open. This another game where Chipper can't play because he had to ride in an airplane yesterday?

DOB said he looked bad in the clubhouse yesterday and all he did was pinch hit. I wonder if he's going to make it to the All Star break.

Man don't say that. I've got tickets to the last 3 home games. I want him to play one of them so bad.

Also, if you have the chance, listen to Scully on the broadcast. From the obvious things department.

Yeah let's call him up early and not give him time to adjust.
Cause that's great for confidence. Pastor will hit much better than Jack you gave to give him time. Having Jack as anything other than depth is a bad idea

The bad idea was going into 2012 at SS with a retread that can't hit and two kids who aren't ready for the majors. Counting on Pastornicky to make the jump after fewer than 30 games at AAA was a dumb longshot to begin with. They needed to pick up another veteran off the scrap heap to help cover the position and they didn't do it.

So having learned nothing from the way they handled Jordan Schafer, now they're again in the position of having handed a starting job to a guy they promoted too fast. At this point they either need to A) let Wilson start most games, as GAVol suggests, or B) just grit their teeth and give Pastornicky three months to root hog or die, at which point he'll have either earned the job or they can cast him away forever and start grooming Simmons. Wren has handled this miserably.

Nailed it. Neither is a viable option for a major league club at this point in their careers. Jack Wilson is beyond done therefore (by default) I ll take Rev

Rev isn't an every day SS now and he doesn't project to be. He doesn't have a high ceiling. He has no power, minimal range, a decent but inaccurate arm. Decent contact hitter who should be okay in avg/OBP. He's a utility INF is what he is.

Bringing in Livan will be like throwing gasoline on this bad boy.

The most depressing thing once I started reading Bill James's books in 1984 was that it became impossible to pretend that Ramirez was anything but awful. I really liked that guy. But yeah, suddenly it was glaringly obvious that a guy who hits .260 and only walks 20 times a year is killing you. Too bad.
