Atlanta Braves II

Is it just me, or has "strained oblique" become an epidemic the past few years. I never even knew baseball players had obliques until recently.

Hey guys...

I was wanting to do some sort of paper/mini-book on the 1990's Atlanta Braves as kind of a personal project. I was wondering what tools/resources you think can help me (such as books, documentaries, etc) with this project. Thanks.

The Braves should just pinch hit with Livan instead of Jack Wilson. He could be a pinch runner if Livan gets a hit. LOL

Tom Glavine wrote a pretty food book covering a lot of inside stuff. Might also want to get Pete Van Wieren's book, Of Mics and Men.

Me and Verc wiill fill in the gaps. :)

Blooper, blooper, infield hit, bleeder through the hole.

Sometimes I hate this g*****n game.

That was some insanely crappy luck for sure. The movement on that strikeout pitch was crazy and in the dirt, but McCann has to block that.

I'm too young to have personal memories, so I'm definitely going to have to have some help from you guys.

I got a few books already on my mind. Definitely Pete's. I plan on getting Rosenberg's "Miracle!" and the 1991 season. I really want to also focus on the rebuilding project also. Drafting Glavine yes, but also Gant and and Justice, etc.

This is going to be my college project, despite the fact this won't count as my college project most likely. :)

Apparently Smoltz just released a book about his career in which he barely talks any of his teammates at all. I wouldn't bother with that one.

If anybody needs to write a book, it's Cox. He was the architect of the whole thing. His decision to move from GM to manager and hire Schuerholz to replace him is what kicked it off.

Smoltz is more about his faith and an actual biography of his life than his time with the Braves. I heard Lopez's book is good.

I really would love for Cox to write a book. I think it would be very interesting.

Something I didn't realize until the other day . . . everybody knows about Bobby Cox stealing John Smoltz for Doyle Alexander in the late 80s, but what I didn't realize was that the guy that got called up to take Alexander's roster spot was Tom Glavine. Can a GM have a better day than calling up a future HOFer and clearing space for him by trading for another future HOFer?

Yeah, I laughed when I read about that. He's going to sell about 30 copies of it. Nothing like writing a book about your life and skipping over the only aspect of it that anybody outside your family gives a crap about.

Greg Maddux could probably write a great book if he wanted to.

Maddux is too genius to write a book. I would not understand it. He's just too damn smart...or so it seems.

Other books by former Braves:

My Life Between Lines - Otis Nixon
All About Me - David Justice
More About Me - David Justice
4 out of 5 Pitchers Agree - Javy Lopez
Every 5th Day - Eddie Perez
Don't Walk - Jeff Francoeur
Hot Pockets at the Hot Corner - Bob Horner

Golden.

I absolutely love Javy Lopez' book name. LULZ.

I would love to read about Nixon.

Reading the full blast article on Rocker by Pearlman.

God, how could Braves fans cheer for him?

Nixon was like a holdover from the cocaine culture of the 80s. His suspension at the end of the 91 season is what enabled Lonnie Smith to be on base for one of Verc's favorite moments of the 91 World Series. :p

I've known John Rocker since he was 12. That was just a meathead being a meathead. He got completely worked by that writer.

Why do that to Vercy? You realize he's going to go drink now and spoil his day with the hangover? That's just cold man.
