Atlanta Braves Thread (I HURT MYSELF TODAY TO SEE IF I STILL FEEL)

A guy making a move from college to the pros, at the exact same position, means he's disgruntled or sees a sinking ship? How? Isn't that the textbook definition of career advancement? Some guys take a step down in position just to advance to the next level, Z just stayed at the exact same position station but at a higher level.

None of that has anything to do with my thoughts on how good or bad of a coach he is but your statement just doesn't seem to make a lot of sense to me.

If it doesn't make any sense to you at all I am not even going to waste my time explaining how he can be disgruntled or how he could see Butch as a sinking ship.

Sure there is a chance that he sees it as an upgrade but I won't try to explain why going to the Chicago Bears is actually not.

Just liked a tweet from Brandon Phillips so this Braves season has already been surprising for me

They should probably stop making people throw over to first on ground balls with the bases empty because that takes up time too.

What's the point of throwing 4 balls for an international walk? Just in case someone actually throws one to the backstop? It would be the first time I've ever seen it happen.

I'm all for it.

Next, eliminate the warm up tosses for a mid inning pitching change. The dude has already been warming up for 10 minutes.

Different mound, different back drop, different angle, different catcher. Never gonna happen.

Calm down Dad.

I've personally seen at least a dozen instances over the years where an inning went sideways because a team couldn't execute the intentional walk. I've seen a dude get a hit off an an intentional ball that the pitcher threw too close to the plate. If intentional walks were a significant part of the problem, then sure. But like the dumb extra inning gimmick, it's a symbolic move that will do nothing to fix the situation. It's like announcing that you're going to pay down $10,000 of credit card debt by switching to super-cheap toilet paper.

I'm okay with a couple of throws but the only way you can make any real progress towards shortening games is eliminating all the commercial breaks during pitching changes.

Which, of course, they will never do ($$$$), which is why they're stuck dicking around with gimmicking up the game.

It's not going to happen, but I wish they would move Dickey to the pen as a long reliever and give Wisler/Blair a shot at the rotation.
