He told arguably my favorite story ever.

Bottom of the 9th. It's game 7 of the 1992 NLCS. Bases loaded, Cabrera up. Cabrera is a dead pull hitter. Van Slyke, being the studious player he is, knows this. So he grabs Barry Bonds' attention in left field. He tells Barry to play closer to the line because he's going to play closer to the gap. Bonds then proceeds to flip him the bird. The rest is history.

Actually, I semi messed the story up, because Van Slyke told Bonds to move closer to the gap knowing that anything down the line would score two runs anyways.
