Auburn/Cam Newton situation (merged)

Plaster on 104.5 pretty much acted like it was a done deal and something would come out between now and the end of next week. It's going to be a grease fire at Auburn, they're done.
I find it hard to believe that the NCAA would work at any speed other than snail

No there won't be any sanctions laid out that quick, but the speculation may end soon and something concrete is going to come out.

I would be just as happy. If you talk to the barners down here, they are convinced this will all be wrapped up by Friday and they will be absolved of everything. Most keep telling me that the investigation is just with the eligibility of Cam and what went on at MSU and has nothing to do with any wrong doing on Auburns part. I chuckle

A simple question: do we want Auburn not to play in the BCS Title game and win? The revenue from the game is divided amongst the teams in the conference if I remember correctly. The title will likely be forfeited at some point. It further reinforces SEC dominance over the rest of the programs in the country.

I do not want AU in the BCSCG. For one thing, based on the available evidence I think that Cecil Newton is crooked and given Cam's criminal and academic histories I cannot believe that he is clean in this. It won't bother most AU fans for a second if they win it all and then have it taken away after the fact on paper. I don't want anyone to get the joy that we experienced in '98 unless they do it on the up and up by following the rules that everyone else plays by. Second, AU and UTK traditionally compete for players. AU had a nice little pipeline coming out of BA at one time and I'd just a soon see them take a hit at a time when the Vols need all the help that they can get on the recruiting front for the next few years. Finally, the SEC has plenty of money and there will probably be two conference teams in BCS bowls even if one of those bowls is not the BCSCG. SEC dominance will be demonstrated and the Vols will get paid without the weagles winning a national championship.

If there is one team (not including UT obviously) in the SEC that I wouldn't have a problem with winning it all it's Auburn. Of the remaining teams with a legit shot at it I hope they pull it out. These allegations won't change my opinion on them or Cam Newton. The Ncaa usually takes forever with cases so I'm not expecting anything anytime soon.

I hate AU. I hope they never sniff the NC game. They are cheaters, and there fans are awful.
Having lived in south GA for 7 years during college I sympathize with you but I think that to alot of our fellow Vol fans, AU is perceived as being some sort of ally due to their being the mortal enemy of Bama.

Auburn even going to the NC game will keep a team out that has a legitimate shot of winning and retaining the title. For that reason, I hope they lose at some point this season. Truth is, who will care 5 years from now if they win the title and it gets vacated? It's like when Alabama's wins were vacated a few years ago.

Because giving shoes, cars, clothes, homes, and money is against the NCAA rules. If Cam's dad was pimping out his son, and received money that is against the rules.

Now, what if he did pimp out his son but received no money. Is Cam/Auburn safe?

I can't speak for other Vol-faithful that live in Alabama but Auburn and it's fans are so much more tolerable than Bammers that I've developed a bit of affinity for Auburn. Living in and amongst the Bammers is a special kind of football hell.

It's kinda like saying bird crap smells better than dog crap but it is what it is.

Give me an Barner over a Bammer any day. Aside from me and my dad, my whole family is Auburn fans, so I don't mind them as much. Of course I wouldn't mind making fun of them for this over the next 10 years either.

I feel the same way. Barners are aggravating, but crappabammers are infuriating.

Could I get an answer to this. Having a conversation with a buddy about this.
