According to sources connected to the probe ... FBI agents looking into the Newton recruiting controversy are also asking about Milton McGregor -- a dog track owner arrested last month for allegedly bribing Alabama politicians to vote pro gambling.

We're told agents asked someone connected to the Newton case if he was familiar with McGregor or the bribery scandal.

It's unclear what, if any, direct connection McGregor has to Newton. Back in 2008, McGregor did donate a million bucks toward construction of a new arena at Auburn.

McGregor did not return a call for comment.

To be honest, I would be surprised if anything to do with the current gambling probe, involves the Cam Newton situation. Most of these people were busy bribing the state legislature to legalize casinos (or bingo halls as they called them around here). Still stranger things have happened I guess.

That's the best synoposis of probable facts, possible facts, and downright rumors I've read yet. If you want to get a gist of what all is out there, that is the best thread I've found yet.

I'll guess about 30% or so of all that has been posted is true. There are some pretty crazy conspiracy theories running around, but like I said before, nothing Lowder could have done would surprise me. And it sounds like McGregor has even less of a soul than Lowder does.
