Auburn/Cam Newton situation (merged)

what would be just cause to lose your accreditation? I think we all want to see Auburn busted for this, but not kicked out of the conference. What a disaster this could be.

Widespread academic/financial fraud perpetrated by the university would be my guess in this case.

And evidently, the SEC refuses to have a member institution without any accreditation. I don't know if that's a rule, or the SEC wouldn't have a program with such a black eye.

It was also said that his(Cecil Newton) trucking company was at around 2 or 3 trucks around the time of Cam Newton's recruitment. Now, his company has about 10 or 12 trucks.

Yea, that really put it all together to me. Instead of giving Cecil straight cash, they'll have people contract out his trucking company, and thus increase his revenues and profits.

Auburn was put on probation by SACS a few years ago and barely missed losing their accreditation. I don't think it's far fetched that if a lot of this pay for play stuff is true... they'd lose accreditation. If they lose their accreditation... I don't see how they can stay in the SEC.

It is a major slap in the face and a loss of prestige for Auburn University's Board of Trustees. Tuesday, the group that Southern Association of Colleges and Schools(SACS), which certifies southern universities for academics and administration put the school on probation. The agency regularly checks schools and colleges and awards accreditation to institutions that earn its seal of approval.

Auburn is still fully accredited, but the sanction imposed by the association is one step short of SACS' most serious punishment -- revoking a college's accreditation. A loss of accreditation would have meant the loss of hundreds of (M) millions of dollars in federal aid for Auburn and its students.

Does he actually have a trucking company? An Auburn fan on TD, in the tuna thread, said he didn't actually have a trucking company.

Any truth to that (the not owning a trucking company bit) not that it exploded in business contracts as of late?

I have no idea, I was just basing it of off Tuna's post. Here are his quotes about it.

Cecil Newton – Pastor of Holy Zion Center of Deliverance in the Atlanta suburb of Newnan, Georgia, and father of Cam Newton, The Auburn player this epic story surrounds. Also purported to own RM Trucking, a small local carrier based in Jacksonville, Ga. Verification of such could not be found by the time of publication.

Newton's father owned a small trucking company with two drivers. After Newton signed they were flushed with so many contracts that a dozen drivers were hired.

Who knows. If he does have a tie in to the business, that's pretty damaging evidence.

I love that the top quote says "purported," but that no verification could be found.

And then the next makes it seem like it is an undisputed fact.

I agree, if he has a business, it is very enlightening. The if part of the if he has a business is what gets me, though. Seems like that should be one of the easier rumors to prove.

I know he has a business. It's either a construction or a trucking company. Either way, he employs people who need to shower more often.

Nick, what is the source from that image you posted?

Looks kind of sketchy on its own. Almost like it was thrown together in Word, printed and scanned.

I've seen what VN can dig up when they put their collective mind to the task. Just because it comes from a forum doesn't mean it should be immediately dismissed.

The information in that thread, that is. Maybe not the document. Too bad I can't fast forward to the end.

4515 Scarborough Rd, College Park, GA, 30349 is a real address with a real house, confirmed by Google Maps/Earth.

However, there is no 167 Elm Street, Atlanta, GA 30131. That address is located at the 30314 zip code.

Ahhh, this is why there isn't any info on this company.

Well the UCC Lien was filed under Cecil Newton and not the company. So I am still trying to locate the company name. It could be Jac and Associates, LLC but I believe that company has been dissolved.

According to the Ga Sec of State, the corporation that ran the church was dissolved 5/16/08. Therefore, he could be running everything as sole proprietorships.

From TD

Seems like that thread on TD that nick posted was more related to the construction company than the possibly non-existent trucking company.

Hm.

Following up.

As posted, 4515 Scarborough Road in College Park, Georgia is a real address. The Newton's lived in an area that appears heavily wooded as well.

Cecil Newton's church, the Holy Zion Center of Deliverance is located on 115 Temple Avenue in Newnan, Georgia(phone number (770) 251-8898), roughly 19-20 miles from his home address.
