Auburn/Cam Newton situation (merged)

Can someone summarize it. I hate to be that person, but I'm about to pass out after a long day and just don't really have the time to read all that

Is the Death Penalty in Auburn's future? From the way some are talking it will not just affect the Athletic program...

its worth a 15 min glance at the minimum. Paints the whole picture. The sitcom "Dallas" will be remade with this script and called "Auburn"

That Auburn would be kicked out of the SEC. This whole article has a Bama bias but you could just substitute the names and the same would apply to Alabama.

The only conspiracy here is Florida and Alabama showing their jealousy of a program that they failed to recognize to be on the rise. Think about it. None of this started coming out until it became obvious that Auburn was going to win the west.

WOW! I guess I'm one of the ones that's been pretty naive about this whole thing - saying "surely the FBI has better things to investigate" etc. But, like the author of this post (which ought to turn into a book!), think people, clearly the FBI isn't interested in boosters paying players - Per usual follow the $ - no wonder AU has changed to a "no comment" policy. If they prove half of what this thread alleges I don't see how AU avoids the death penalty.

If true.. How unlucky can AU and the Newtons be if they just happen to be shopping pfp with people who are under FBI investigation and are being wiretapped? And the Slive twist plays into this whole officiating fiasco we have witnessed the past couple of years.

he mentioned that it was a possibility, didn't say it was going to happen. And it came from and LSU fan, not a bama fan. With reports coming from everywhere that add up to the report, its absurd to think Jealousy of an average program (with one great player) could facilitate all of this.

It has been mentioned there exists a recorded conversation between TTaylor and McGregor discussing the progress in wrapping up this class. To paraphrase, ”… just one more deal to cut and it’s all done. Then there’s a mention of needing $200K to close it out.”

Always nice to see Trooper's name in the mix. Right now he and his agent are negotiating the movie rights and trying to work out a deal for Denzel to play the role of Troop... guaranteed oscar material.

I'm thinking more along these lines.

None of this started coming out until it became obvious that Auburn was going to win the west.

If MSU reported it in Jan, and then followed up in July, then it was reported well before Auburn went on a win streak.

It is only "coming out now" because of the credibility and the depth of the investigation. (By credibility, I just mean on MSU's end in regards to Cam's father.)

There is more to talk about when more things are found or investigated. Investigations take time. Often, investigations aren't publicly announced because it allows evidence to be destroyed.

But as more and more strings are pulled, and more and more people start poking around, there is more and more to talk about because the circle of involved individuals continues to grow and grow.

I don't think it is as simple as saying Auburn was on the rise, and so they had to be put down. I think it was more along the lines of the time required to start an investigation and the desire to keep it hushed up as long as necessary to gather sufficient evidence.

If it turns out that it is nothing, then I will absolutely agree that it was a simple matter of rivalry. I just don't see that as the case based on the speculation surrounding the entire affair.

Could be, though. I just don't buy it.

One little thing here.

If Auburn loses their accreditation(which happened in 1998-1999 with a pay-for-play scheme), they will be immediately expelled from the SEC.

what would be just cause to lose your accreditation? I think we all want to see Auburn busted for this, but not kicked out of the conference. What a disaster this could be.
