Auburn did it, why not Tennessee?

It was all the above IMO. Better coach, better QB, unique offensive system (their defense statistically speaking was similar to ours in sec play)..... and a helluva lot more elite athletes. That wasn't the coach, system or QB trying to tackle the Auburn guys on defense and special teams.

I was talking about our current team this year with the legacy class included, compared to auburn last year, would be a similar team and results if we had a great QB, system and coach. This year we have just as many skilled positions players on offense besides QB as auburn. Defense is close as we'll. auburn has just a lil wee bit more depth

Our QB are better then Auburns.

Dude can't read defenses at all, I wouldn't even call him a QB.

Edit: reading defenses on (passing situation's)

Apparently I just know more about Auburn and UT then you. The difference with Auburn was the coach, the QB and the system. Not an overwhelming amount of talent.

What about math do you not understand?

We have 1 good recruiting class and they are freshman this year and will have a minor impact this season with a bigger impact next season.

They have 4 good recruiting classes worth of players at all levels of age and experience.

Teams in the nation more talented than Auburn:

Alabama
LSU
Florida state

END OF LIST. We are not close.

Here's something to think about and express your views on. Auburn went from a 3-9 record in 2012 to a 12-2 record and a runner-up finish to the national champions last year. Now I am in no way suggesting that will happen for us, nowhere close. However, we saw how good the offense was in the spring. We really don't know how good the defense will be until the 16 new defensive players are added to the mix but I think we can assume they will be much better also. Now you see all the predictions where the Vols will only win 5 or 6 games. Why is it a stretch to believe that if Butch gets all the pieces in place we could surprise a lot of people and win 7 or 8 games? :crossfingers:

IMO, the offense was explosive because our defensive line is not very good. If we get to 7 or 8 wins in the regular season with our sub par defensive line then great, Butch is ahead of schedule. I think we go 6-6 in the regular season unless the offense is just completely dynamic. Otherwise, don't let the spring game fool you.

I like your optimism but Auburn had a game breaking QB that was a difference maker. We have Worley and Dobbs hardly the equivalent. But we are getting there,

The defense is not close. Our D line, the most important unit in the SEC is lacking in the talent and experience department big time. In 2015 the D should be closer to being solid.

Open up Google or your favorite search engine, look up Tennessee and auburn rosters. Also look at the coaches of both teams, learn what systems they like to run and what player profile they aim for. Do all of this then come back and learn from your mistake.

If you think the talent we have on defense right now is even remotely comparable to the athletes and talent Auburn had last year, you should just choke yourself.

That is one area that we are behind auburn a little bit. Not by much and our d line will be much better then last year. Our entire defense will be better, faster, deeper.

We may be faster but only deeper by the number of d line signees in the last class. Remember, our starters this upcoming season like Obrien and J Williams could not beat out our bad d line from last year. Now maybe Obrien and Williams improve dramatically. I am not sure what to expect from the Juco guy O Williams, so we will have to see on that one. Vereen has the most potential out of the returning d linemen imo. IF a few of these freshmen coming in can be studs right a way that changes things but that is asking a lot in the SEC.

Plus we have major qb issues. Auburn qb miles better than rocket boy n worley last yr.

And every year lately our motto has been the coach just needs more time to get his players.. Lol heck I suppose its never the coach but always the players..

Pretty much yes - The problem has indeed been the lack of talent and depth on the roster compared to our competition. SImple as that. That can only be fixed over the course of several recruting years.

It's really not that hard to grasp.

I agree. I think that Hendrix can have an impact like Lawson did with AU. Obrien, sails berry and vereen should all continue to improve. I don't see how the D line can be any worse thenast year most likely better. I know they are young but they are just better in every aspect then previous guys.

Because Gene Cziak recruited all the players that were on Auburns team already. He was only gone 1 yr. CBJ got Dool's leftovers!

They don't have our schedule either!

:good!:

They have your schedule minus oklahoma

Yeah, I don't know anyone that doesn't have Auburn's schedule high in difficulty. Its the main reason why I think AU goes 9-3/10-2 this year even though the team might be better.

Still have to play all of the SEC West plus UGA and Kansas State away in the dreaded Thursday night game. Lot of away games this year.

Amusing how many of the people who claimed Dooley was assembling a team of world beaters who now say we can't blame CBP for losing with those same players. 2015 can't get here soon enough.

Allow me kind sir. The people who claimed Dooley assembled a "team of world beaters" were/are blithering idiots.

Btw... CBP? Coach Bruce Pearl? 😳😁
