Auburn hires Bruce Pearl

Dang the Tigers are serious!

It's what it takes to win, wish we had that commitment from our Admin and AD.

Bruce was a bad azz coach who should have done like any other coach and kept lying. He got tossed under a freight train for being more honest than other coaches.

More like he tripped and fell onto the tracks. No one threw him there.

Yep.. Bruce getting a 100k build in raise per year.

I can see why he accepted the job. AU now has one of the top 3 coaches in SEC.

It isn't a coincidence that Boston College waited for his hiring at AU to be confirmed before announcing the firing of their coach. His own alma mater had no interest in him.

They timed the firing of a coach around the hiring of Pearl? For real? For what purpose?

AU didn't have to pay that much. They had no competition for him.

The opposite is true. Auburn wanted to lock him down before other jobs opened up. Thus the huge salary and buyout. They know our coach may or may not be out if he loses tonight and they didn't want to take a chance. They also knew BC was coming open and didn't want to risk him going there. There are likely to be several more coaches getting fired in the next few weeks and Pearl would have been on all of their radars. Pearl even said in his presser how aggressive the Auburn AD came after him. You don't do that unless you fear competition.

I'm sure that's what happened.

Your azz ever get sore pulling all that BS out of it?

So happy for bruce and the friends and family. Second changes DO happen. Even for people who are OVERLY punished...

I wish him all the best and hope Auburn wins every basketball game of the year EXCEPT when they play Tennessee.

I'm sad that our administrators and AD are such horrible administrators that they didn't have the willpower to talk seriously with Bruce and I'm sorry that VolNation can't support Coach Martin after a 21 win season with a Trip to the NCAA.

I know you're going to blast me, but if we can't have BRUCE, then ZO is the next best option.

BC was paying Donahue like $1 million per year. They wouldn't be able to pay Pearl even if they really wanted him, so I dont think that says a whole lot. Most of these other schools with openings dont have SEC money.

I don't give a damn if you don't believe it. Pearlophiles are allergic to the truth anyway, just like their idol.

Let it go folks. Our team just won a big game and is still surviving and advancing. Once I thought BP truly considered UT a unique and special place for him. But now I realize loving the school he is at is part of his job as showman//entertainer first and basketball coach second. He loves that role and does it very well. So Auburn is just as special and unique to him now as UT ever was. I am just fine with that

Go Vols! Beat UMass!

That's definitely one way to look at it. Auburn is a terrible basketball school. I'm not even sure Coach K could get them to care about it down there.

Did anybody else catch him this morning on Mike & Mike on ESPN? He was wearing an Auburn football jersey and an Auburn football helmet. Did whole first part of the interview wearing that. He's a showman, got to give him that.
