Auburn hires Bruce Pearl

Hart needs to be let go regardless. We have had a joke AD for way too many years. Get Phil Fulmer in there...

I don't disagree with that Phil will give his all for Tennessee as AD. I'm not sure where Hart's loyalties are him being a Bama grad. Cheek needs to go too.

He lied to the NCAA and told Craft's family to lie. Then he lied again. He did cheat. Quit living in denial.

Seems like you're stoning him for the same offense four times in just that one post...deny that.:peace2:

Ok, I've read through all of this thread so far, and for you people bashing pearl, and the people who want pearl, what are you cuonzonites gonna do or say next year when we are sitting at 10 wins at this time? Pearl can flat out coach, and is ten times better than cuonzo. We struggled to make the play in game in cuonzo's third year, and next year is gonna be a disaster, so that should tell you he can't even recruit. I think we've seen the end of Tennessee basketball for a long time.

I will say

Tennessee is a football school and if football isn't #1, then my concerns lie there.

Basketball will always be 2nd fiddle to Football

So, clearly, it can never reach those heights again, no?

Watching a good chunk of the UT fanbase today is like watching a 16 year old deal with their first break up. "SHE WAS THE ONE! THE ONLY ONE AND I'LL NEVER BE HAPPY AGAIN...."

Well Zo sure isnt the one......

Since in your mind a secondary violation is cheating then Fulmer also cheated and dare I say Pat Summitt cheated. Both committed secondary NCAA violations; heck Fulmer even gave up a scholly or two during his tenure. Cheaters I tell ya, cheaters... off with their collective heads...

Bruce was a bad azz coach who should have done like any other coach and kept lying. He got tossed under a freight train for being more honest than other coaches.

People saying Auburn will be in the NCAA next year are just delusional. Auburn has maybe one or two decent players.

CJ Watson, Chris Lofton, JaJuan Smith, serviceable Dane Bradshaw and Major Wingate. We will see how Bruce does with the talent in Auburn his first year. Dolt.

UT
CJ Watson 3*
Bradshaw 3*
Wingate 4*
Lofton 3*
J. Smith 0*

AU
Wade 3*
Harrell 4*
Shamsid-Deen 3*
Atewe 3*
Griciunas 3*

Doesn't look very different to me. Those UT players weren't considered that great when they were coming out of high school; you're grading them based on what they eventually became and did for UT.

I would also argue that the players they became was due in large part to Pearl himself. So, if he could take UT's 3* recruits and turn them into All-SEC players and/or eventual pros, there's no reason to think he can't do something similar with AU's players that were 3* prospects.

For those of us observing from the outside it'll be very interesting to see the direction the 2 programs take from this point on.

Nope. Not even close. The only reason he was fired was because he lied. He probably could have kept his job if he would have just came clean.

Your entire argument is based off of some meaningless star given by recruitment sights. How about what they do on the court.

I guess Wade can shoot just as good as CJ because they both have 3 stars beside their names.

I think most (including the AA) would look the other way on a violation even multiple violations, assuming you handled the fallout properly.

But given the chance to just admit to violation he chose the unethical route which not only included himself but several others. That's where he crossed the line and completely changed situation. He screwed up and did the time for it.

My point is that CBP lied....

If you want to call him a cheater because he committed secondary violations then that is fine however in doing so then every coach who committed secondary violations is also a "cheater" by that analysis and that includes the individuals I identified.

Please explain what makes Bruce Pearl a sleazeball. It's easy to say someone has no morals but can you back that statement up? He made a mistake and lied about it. Have you ever lied? Do you have morals? To keep running the he's a liar up the flag pole is ridiculous. Had the NCAA not made an example of him nobody would give two ****s that he lied to them.

We've all lied and made mistakes and probably suffered consequences for it. So did he. That's two big mistakes he's made from an employment standpoint. Wonder if he'll go for the Hat Trick at Auburn?

True, but that doesn't mean my statement is inaccurate. A deny, deny, deny approach would have had the same affect. Happens all the time. No he wasn't honest to begin with, but he eventually was, ultimately costing his job.

You can't compare what any players can do on the court until they've both had coaching instruction from Pearl and played in similar offenses.

Coming out of high school they were considered of similar quality. Harrell is already shooting better than Watson did.

But AU had Chris Denson this past year, too; and while he won't be there for Pearl, he was still the 2nd highest scorer in the SEC and had more points per game and better overall FG % than McRae... so to opine that AU can't get quality players like UT is just a case of fans not doing their homework and only knowing about their own players.

Only if you're paying attention to the star rankings. What does that have to do with it? You really think CJ and Lofton were 3* and J Smith a 0*? Gimme a break.

Steven Pearl named assistant. I guess that's why the tweet. Oh well. Must be nice 25 year old and an assistant at major college. Maybe he can come back and coach his alma mater.
