Auburn vs. Oregon - Official BCS National Championship Game Thread

For the people saying that the south is better than the west in football, how many of you went to high school with three NFL players?

How many of you went to middle school and played youth sports with two other NFL players?

How many of you played against two heisman trophy qbs in high school?

subtle I did all of this post. Not sure what it proves though.

Nah... They barely beat Kentucky but they still did. LSU lost to Kentucky that year. That tigers team is hardly bcs material most other years let alone nat'l championship.

That was a better UK team than this year's UK team.

Family? WTH? Auburn isn't our "family"; Auburn is a direct competitor and SEC football is a zero-sum game.

This ridiculous idea that "we all win when the SEC wins" is seriously the dumbest notion you read on this board, and that's saying something. All the recruits we're competing with Auburn for are going to get to have their picture made with that crystal football Chizik is taking home tonight. How does that help us?

So you have no loyalty whatsoever to your conference? Have you ever noticed the loud chants of "S-E-C" during March Madness... or even at at UT game? It matters. It doesn't always feel good, but it matters.

And how the hell does Oregon winning the national title help us with recruiting? Maybe this helps Auburn more than us, but it certaining helps us.

Dyer talks unbelievably fast.

To prove your point. Da'Rick Rogers the long time Georgia committ when he was on his visit here posted the pic of him kissing our Sears trophy. Bulldogs didn't have one for him to kiss.

And this year's recruits were in kindergarten when we won that one. Our championship is as current and meaningful to them as Joe Namath waving his finger in the air.

Um none, but Moonpie Wilson was from my hometown. Does that count?

I'd take my $ on that LSU defense over any Gene Chizik team.

I went to school with three NFLers.

And they held Auburn to under 20 points until the final two seconds. Isn't Auburn supposed to have a prolific offense as well?

Auburn's centerpiece is one player. Without him, they lose 3-4 games. The outstanding defense of Miss. St. also held the Barn to 17 points. Their defense wasn't even "top 25", like Oregon's.

I went to school with 2 people who have started or are currently starting in the NFL. And I'm from a very small town.

There will be maybe one or two recruits a year that both UT and Oregon will be major contenders. We'll have ten times that number with UT-Auburn.

Candidly i could have named more, but they aren't my accomplishments.

The point being that I believe California has more athletes.

In my four years of school we played against Carson Palmer, chris rix, Casey clausen and matt leinart. And those were just league games. Our qb went to Minnesota.

I agree about Newton, but Auburn was facing tougher competition than UO. UO would not put up the same numbers playing an SEC schedule.
