I have always thought Gruden was a pipe dream of many on VN.
With his comments he is ready to get back in coaching and helping young people. He MAY be open to discussions. We do have the talent to compete and think.of the impact he would have on recruiting.
If I were Hart I would be gauging interest.
Im all for getting Arkansas coach that they fired. Patreno. Who gives a **** if he likes having sex with hot women??? I dont. I say "Bring Him On to Rocky Top"!
It would be a controversial hire. It would probably end very ugly in a few short years. But, in the process, we would get our football program back. I'd call him once Gruden said no.
There are two coaches that are a sure bet, Saban and Spurrier. Spurrier grew up in East Tennessee. Offer him big bucks and he might come. If not, let Dooley rebuild. We don't need another gamble.
Those are strange thoughts, but I'm inclined to agree. We couldn't accept Spurrier after Fulmer, but fans would accept him now. Resurrecting Tennessee might appeal to him. We bet the farm on Dooley, and I'm against running him off to hire another unproven coach. I think Mullen would be accepted also. If he can turn Mississippi State into a good SEC team, which he has, then he should be able to do better at Tennessee.
Who to hope for but very unlikely:
1. Gruden
2. Caroll
Realistic:
Kirby Smart (Ugh)
Dan Mullen
Charlie Strong
Gus Malzhan
Western KY coach...(UGGHHHH)
Anyone else?
Butch Davis. Proven coach and in the area!! Gruden would be nice but unlikely!! Carroll also unlikely.
As far as smart, maybe but unproven,, Mullen ain't going no where,, the rest you are taken a chance just as you are with smart!!!!
Nobody disagrees that Gruden would not be the dream hire, how can we get him?
