Baby Boomers U.S. Worst Generation?

Obamacare is not an entitlement. Everyone was already able to get free care once their condition became bad enough. Obamacare is the opposite of an entitlement in the sense that it requires people now to pay in to the system that already guaranteed them service.

So paying 1% of the book takes it out of the entitlement category?

It's my money + medicare & I want it now!!! I paid into the system for 45 + years by doing what I was required to do if I lived long enough for retirement. When you finally get to that age of retirement you want gripe about it one damn bit......so boo hoo for the younger dudes that are still having to work & pay into the system.

Yes you are entitled to my money so you can sit back and criticize my generation who will have Jack squat to sit on come your age because it was your generation which squandered it all. Why even have children when you don't give two ****s about their future. Cause money. I'm sure welfare mothers have the same sense of entitlement. Breed so you can get money from your government daddy. Your children and theirs are no different in the pawn game of government handouts. Socialism is for whiners and sheep.

Wow. Thanks for showing your ignorance a-hole. I said that I paid into "this system" (money coming out of my paycheck each week that I earned) and that it was set up by the government of which I have "no control of" because it is law to do so & it was required of me to do so to help pay for those ahead of me in the older class of retirees when I was working to put food on the table & clothes on my family's back for the last 45 + years. When you become a retired person the SS Office will let you know that you are able to receive those benefits. If you don't want to accept those SS benefits then you can start sending that hard earned money you make weekly directly to me because I sure can use it now.....and thanks for your disgruntled contribution a-hole.

Your money? Just what part of the money he paid into the system is your money?

Before retirement the SS Office would send me an update each year which showed me just how much money I put into the SS system & how much I could collect at a certain age....be that at a younger age or at a time that would be at 70. SS & medicare was set up by the government for workers to pay into and we have not a voice to say otherwise.

The money isn't there for the boomers. If the government spent their SS money while representing them (i.e. their electives) on government programs, and left a bunch of IOUs, then...

No, that's the younger generation's money, not theirs. They spent theirs.

Imagine if you just filled up your 401k with IOUs that your grandkids will pay back. That's what the SS fund is. And the boomers have controlled the electorate pretty much their whole lives.

Exactly.....I can't figure out just what Goldie was trying to say....just who's money does he think it is? I mean there's no way it could actually be yours since you're the one who paid in for years and years.

These kids need to leave that dope alone.

We already do that. Social Security is a ponzi scheme where the young overpay for the elders to survive.

It's like he's blaming me for taking something that belongs to him or to the futures childrens? Sounds like he needs to vent his anger towards Congress for spending that money which was paid in. We (the general public) didn't have anything to do w/this spending system being bankrupt by Congress unless Goldie is upset w/those baby boomers in Congress.

It's not the retiree's money. Their representatives, that they have elected for the last several decades by being the controlling vote, spent their money at their behest, and filled the fund with IOUs. The IOUs are being paid by the current workers, i.e. younger people.

So the SS fund is "invested" in treasuries? That means, we borrowed against ourselves so that future generations could pay us back for the money we spent.

So SS is not a pyramid scheme...it won't fall a part by fewer investors because we just raise the payroll tax. That means the younger generation is stuck paying no matter what. Not enough of you, just raise taxes. Paying off the boomers for money they spent.

It sounds worse than a Ponzi scheme because regardless, I have to participate. Until, you know, the voters choose not to. Sounds like now would be a good time. Let's start with the original offenders. Those who borrowed $17T. But again, they control the vote. Democracy, voting to give me money, from someone else's pocket.

Sounds like what goes on in Washington all the time everyday you know business as usual.....robbing Peter to pay Paul as the old saying goes.

That's what I did for 45 years when my time was working. When I was young & able to work I paid into the system for the elders to survive. That's just a part of life here in the USA. Y'all act like this just started 7 years ago.

It started when the SS budget started to run out. Retirement benefits dont really bug me. The welfare system bugs me a lot.

And you act like it's sustainable in its current form. Either that or you simply don't care what happens to others as long as you get yours

Except you are not going to pay nearly as much as I'm going to.

FICA and Medicare tax rates, combined (and also for employers and employers, together), increased steadily from just 2.25% of pay between 1935 and 1953 to 4.50% by 1960, 6.90% by 1970, 8.10% by 1980, and 15.3% by 1990 (where it now stands).

Social Security is Much Worse Than a Ponzi Scheme - and Here's How to End It - Forbes

The only reason it's not a ponzi scheme is because people are coerced into it, and the scheme has the ability to force you to pay more into it with taxes. So technically it might not collapse...except when your infrastructure and economy collapses under the weight of propping it up.

The only thing working in it's favor is that those doing the lending (the taxed) are getting such a crappy deal, that the borrowers (federal government) are actually making out a little ahead.

Why should he care? He's paid his dues....it's not his fault that we all see our tax dollars at work when we ride by the projects, when we see ebt cards used in restaurants, when we see $100 worth of food stamps being sold for $50, when we see welfare recipients sit on their fat asses licking Cheetos residue off their fingers while watching Judge Judy....etc., etc.

It's not his fault these things are allowed to occur.

It's hard explaining things to some people that just don't get it. A couple of posters on here think I'm a bad person & this is my fault of robbery of my own stash of cash & finally cashing in at the retirement age that Uncle Sam said to come on down & apply.....it's yours.

It is because the baby boomers voted in most of the politicians who enacted this crap.
