Ok, now seriously I do appreciate you coming back on here. We as fans at least should be able to "vent" to you guys about our frustration. I do thank you for coming back for that. I'm not going to say your sources were stupid or you didn't know anything because in all honestly you might have. However, you were wrong, way wrong.

With that being said, thanks for sharing information if it was geniune and real, but if you guys were just making up stories than touche! You really made it sound somewhat believeable.

Zero ill will towards anybody that brought the info they had. Only ill will is towards the pitiful few that played troll.

I'm beginning to believe Sparty's "It was never close" is the closest to reality.

Very similar situation to your buddy swearing that he's going to nail the Hooters chick that's been 'flirting' with him for the last hour. "She's so into me, dude. I swear."

Wait, you mean the information in the Gruden threads was supposed to be real? Wow, I thought it was just a long, hazy, semi-coherent conversation between a couple of winos sitting out on the street and every once in a while someone would open a door and they would hear a snippet from fox news.

Frankly I'm pissed at you Grudenites. I don't want to hear an apology for bringing info that you thought was good. I want to hear y'all take the blame and apologize for feeding the fire that helped bring this past season to its knees. Apologize for being so negative and complete jackazzes to people trying to keep it positive. We r in the position we r now with another "well let's see how he'll do" coach cause y'all were to blinded by your wet dreams of Gruden to support the Vols this yr. Yall were the ones glad to see us lose to keep the circle jerk over Gruden alive.

Take blame in yalls part for this past seasons issues then you'll be deserving of respect. Until then all y'all are just POSs to me.

I am not at all excited about this hire. I hope he wins but I have a feeling he will not. Very unimpressed with him at the press release. Looked like a deer in headlights. This is not the "big splash" hire that was promised Dave Hart!

You were 99% SURE it was done. You are freaking full of it. Dave Hart is the most honest AD I have ever seen. MH would have lied an million times over to say he only offered Dooley. Hart said he reached out to Gruden, why would he even say that if he was trying to cover up. He said Gruden did not express interest back.

This is only my 3rd post here, so you are welcome to take it with a grain of salt.

I lurked forever, but never posted because I didn't want to be seen as a "me, too" member.

I have what I think are 2 independent "sources" (I now hate that word) that are at equal depth within UT football. I'd speak to person A and get one story, then speak to person B and get a totally different story. The reports would sometimes be similar, but that was a rarity. I trust both of these folks...and that they were just relaying a message (albeit an erroneous one).

That leads me to believe that the entire AD was in a constant panic which led to crappy communications. Hart should have had more control over it and he didn't. His leadership is very questionable after this.

I have gathered from both people that Gruden was in play up until the near end. He just wanted too much out of the program with no risk to him. At the very end, his most loyal boosters folded on him. To grant him his wishes would have put the football program at risk.

Like I said, that is what I gathered.

Butch mentioned that Peyton had called and urged him to go to Colorado. I wondered if it was one of those behind the scenes things, since many wondered why all VOLS would-be coaches were dropping like flies. :p

Seriously, in the beginning I was angry. After, I watched the press conference, I think CBJ might be a good coach for us.
