This is only my 3rd post here, so you are welcome to take it with a grain of salt.
I lurked forever, but never posted because I didn't want to be seen as a "me, too" member.
I have what I think are 2 independent "sources" (I now hate that word) that are at equal depth within UT football. I'd speak to person A and get one story, then speak to person B and get a totally different story. The reports would sometimes be similar, but that was a rarity. I trust both of these folks...and that they were just relaying a message (albeit an erroneous one).
That leads me to believe that the entire AD was in a constant panic which led to crappy communications. Hart should have had more control over it and he didn't. His leadership is very questionable after this.
I have gathered from both people that Gruden was in play up until the near end. He just wanted too much out of the program with no risk to him. At the very end, his most loyal boosters folded on him. To grant him his wishes would have put the football program at risk.
Like I said, that is what I gathered.
