Back to eat my crow.

So you're admitting you were trolling? That's one.

Everyone in that thread was admitting to trolling. Gruden was never coming, the only thing substantiated the whole thing was Hargis's piece. Not good to point the finger at someone who realizes it was unrealistic. Especially given how many of these self proclaimed "ban bets" were put in place. How much trolling would you say was done by people continuing the madness. Yay4Bray was dead wrong, and where has he been?

At least he's willing to admit it, unlike some of the others still clinging to their "inside source" bullcrap.

I wouldn't define it as trolling, and if it was in these moderators "eyes", it was minor in offense, compared to the complete hypocrisy spewed from posters who continue to back their "sources".

We need to move on from the debacle because it definitely set a standard for Vol fans that realistically could not be matched.

Everyone in that thread was admitting to trolling...

No they haven't. Trolling is trying to stir up arguments and flame wars online, and to deliberately deceive. They maybe got carried away, but that's nothing like what trolling is.

Either you're admitting to trolling here, or just lying again. Which is it?

Ill admit to it when the same posters who said it's a done deal admit they were running with incorrect info and knowingly did so, how about that deal?

I have no idea if Butch will work out. He definitely doesn't excite me. However, Hart should be fired before the season begins. If anyone thinks this hire helps the program, then counting the game day attendance will be easier than counting the empty seats.

You might wish to use a little restraint concerning Hart and his hire, until more evidence is in.......lest you have an opportunity to eat more crow. Key word is "restraint."

Wiki:

In Internet slang, a troll (play /ˈtroʊl/, /ˈtrɒl/) is someone who posts inflammatory,[1] extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as a forum, chat room, or blog, with the primary intent of provoking readers into an emotional response[2] or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion.[3]

Deliberately decieve? Did you not see what Yay4Bray posted about his new deadlines? Please enlighten me on how that is not deliberately deceiving.

Carried away is the largest understatement of the whole thing. They took bits of pieces of a story and interpreted their thought process into it and it became a snowball of hell.

Ha. That's funny. You'll be a man about it when others decide to do so. That's honorable.

Don't think you need to get all bent out of shape on this. You stuck your neck out on something that didn't work out.
Sounds like Gruden really wasn't interested. FWIW, I hope Butch wins 9 games next year just to piss you Grudenites off.

I don't expect the bold part to happen next year, but as a UT Vol fan, I can hope too.

Thanks for those posting in the Gruden Thread. I took everything for what it was, a post in a thread by an anonymous poster. When it was civil, it was enjoyable and I made some e-friends out of it. For those posting what they were hearing and now getting blasted for it, you guys have my respect.

GO VOLS! :clapping:

What your saying is always keep things in perspective. Wow what a concept! Kudos to you.

Stayed off the Gruden forum for the last few weeks. I was 99% sure the deal was finished and through my sources, they were sure it was done too. I have no idea what happened or why. I have a good idea but without concrete evidence, it is just speculation.

I have no idea if Butch will work out. He definitely doesn't excite me. However, Hart should be fired before the season begins. If anyone thinks this hire helps the program, then counting the game day attendance will be easier than counting the empty seats.

Not really ready to let this go. The lies are just too frustrating for some of us and you don't understand that.

Why are you admitting NOW that you have no "concrete evidence" when your earlier posts smugly told everyone they were stupid for questioning you.

You said you wouldn't post anymore if you were wrong. Why haven't you done that?

Why are you admitting NOW that you have no "concrete evidence" ...

Go back and read what you just wrote. Read it again, this time paying attention to the part you quoted. Do you see your error?

LittleDTO says he has no concrete evidence for why the supposed deal fell apart. Context is everything.

I don't know him from anywhere and I'm certainly not defending him or any of the other OG's, but there were too many independent people all across the state (and elsewhere) talking up hints of Gruden-to-Tennessee for it all to have been internet bullshat. There was SOMETHING to it, even if it ended up not panning out.

Did some of these guys talk out of there asses? Probably so. But there were too many of them, with too many details, for it to all have been crap. I don't know which category LittleDTO fell into, but give the man props for showing back up for his crow.

Also, IIRC, he said he'd stick around to take his lumps for seven days. It hasn't been seven days yet.

I have to say, some of these posters are amazing. I hope you never get bad info given to you and share it in good faith. smh

This is only my 3rd post here, so you are welcome to take it with a grain of salt.

I lurked forever, but never posted because I didn't want to be seen as a "me, too" member.

I have what I think are 2 independent "sources" (I now hate that word) that are at equal depth within UT football. I'd speak to person A and get one story, then speak to person B and get a totally different story. The reports would sometimes be similar, but that was a rarity. I trust both of these folks...and that they were just relaying a message (albeit an erroneous one).

That leads me to believe that the entire AD was in a constant panic which led to crappy communications. Hart should have had more control over it and he didn't. His leadership is very questionable after this.

I have gathered from both people that Gruden was in play up until the near end. He just wanted too much out of the program with no risk to him. At the very end, his most loyal boosters folded on him. To grant him his wishes would have put the football program at risk.

Like I said, that is what I gathered.

Sounds reasonable. I don't understand the hate for those who were saying that Gruden was in play.

Too much smoke for there not to have been truth there.

According to a 25 year veteran sports reporter with three very credible sources. One being a member of the AD that he didn't even use in his story. One being Jim Haslam. The other being a coach that was going to be on Gruden's staff. It was widely known that he was contacting potential staff members. Sounds like there was a lot more to it than three phone calls and an instant rejection. But keep hating on the only people that were able to bring a glimmer of sun shine into the miserable grey that is UT football at the present.

He was contacting potential staff members during the coaching search where Dooley was hired. Doesn't mean it was close to happening.

Frankly I'm pissed at you Grudenites. I don't want to hear an apology for bringing info that you thought was good. I want to hear y'all take the blame and apologize for feeding the fire that helped bring this past season to its knees. Apologize for being so negative and complete jackazzes to people trying to keep it positive. We r in the position we r now with another "well let's see how he'll do" coach cause y'all were to blinded by your wet dreams of Gruden to support the Vols this yr. Yall were the ones glad to see us lose to keep the circle jerk over Gruden alive.

Take blame in yalls part for this past seasons issues then you'll be deserving of respect. Until then all y'all are just POSs to me.

Let me get this right. It is the Grudenites fault Dooley sucked? No one was glad to see the Vols lose. That is dumb. Coaches are hired to make our team better and win championships. They are hired guns and a means to an end. We should be loyal to them as long as they are achieving the goals set for them. Dooley was terrible, get over it.
