Baltimore Unrest

Why is it so hard for some people to wrap around their minds that both parties are equally to blame? The cops and the rioters are both behaving like feral goons. Why is it that people want to takes sides and say these people are right, but the other side is wrong?

Agreed.

I guarantee you the injury settlements that were paid out weren't the result of sliding around in he back of a van though....

Department policy governing "persons in police custody" now requires officers to use seat belts to "prevent the detainee from maneuvering out of the restraint and possibly causing injury to himself/herself or others." It also says officers are required to take detainees to the nearest medical facility upon request.

Weird. It's almost as if the Alston case in 1997 and then the Johnson case in 1998 where one was paralyzed and the other died due to head injuries sustained while cuffed in the back of a van that they weren't strapped into told them "we have a problem".

BCP have admitted they didn't strap Gray in.

I've been in an open compartment vehicle and not strapped in and it's pretty difficult to keep yourself lodged on the seat. If it was empty and I had my hands cuffed behind my back, yeah, I can easily see flying off and faceplanting on the other side of the van.

The stories that have come out of, most notably, Baltimore and Philly on this point to a trend of police driving recklessly while they have persons in their custody.

And Alston/Johnson were awarded $45mil but settled for ~$7mil together.

Find me 1 instance to back your claim? Name an instance were people rioted without a lengthy history of abuse of power?

depends on your definition of "lengthy" but any of the northern cities that rioted during the Civil War. (new york and Baltimore) LA riots after the Lakers won (da bulls had some too but i don't think it was as bad). any number of European or South American riots after a soccer team wins or loses. also depending on what counts as abuse there were any number of drug based riots: 1970 Memorial Park being one by us whities, Washington Heights. The US Open of Surfing (twice). apparently Michigan State has a history of riots as well (sports related) Seatle Mardi Gras Riots. Ohio States "Chittfest" Riots.

the list goes on and on. and i tried to limit to the US.

I'd still be surprised if this is actually how the guys were injured that severely.....they could have been beaten before being placed in the van.....I can't comment on it because I don't know the story.

They already are. It was that way in Ferguson too. Someday it will most likely be shown that George Soros has a hand in provoking these riots. He's bragged about doing this sort of stuff in Latin America, and in some protests a while back in New York it was shown that the protestors had signs that were made by a company with ties to Soros. There are major outside players involved in stoking the fires.

Social media analysis suggests links between Baltimore and Ferguson violence | Fox News

It's not the smoking gun yet, but someday there will be a link to Soros.

The reality is that the NG would be doing the rioters a favor to go ahead and shoot to kill. 99% of the people in the news footage will never escape the ghetto. They're doomed to a life of dependence and depravity. For people like this life pretty much ends within a couple of years after they no longer qualify for the government welfare programs targeted at children. It'd be a mercy to go ahead and take them out at their peak before they succumb to drug dependence, gang violence, communicable disease, etc.

Yes, truly a merciful extermination of more minorities will help things.

You must be a Christian.

We've done everything we can do since the mid 60s to give them a hand up and events like Ferguson and Baltimore are a clear demonstration of the fruits of those efforts. The rest of us don't need to live in a ticking time bomb where we're constantly one coalescing event away from chaos. If it's them or me, I choose them.

SO how do you fix this "police brutality" problem?

Lax laws? Nope. More laws? Nope. No cops? Maybe..

Maybe more black cops because chances are high relate to the locals? Well according to my black friends those are the worst ones to be in the neighborhood. But then even if it answer was to add more black cops does that mean lowering entrance requirements like many cities have done to add minority cops? That isn't fair to the civilians or the police departments. But ignoring that as well what does adding more black cops do? Does that mean the black cops are going to patrol the black areas? Would this become some sort of law enforcement segregation?

Ill be honest as a white guy looking in a LOT of times it appears as black folks only want black folks in their areas (I wont argue with them about it). Reminds me of something I studied in history class. What was that called?...Oh yeah! segregation. But we all know it wont be the same because this time it wont be enforced by whites so it will be ok. Right?

Baltimore PD:

Currently, the department is administered by Commissioner Anthony Batts and Deputy Commissioner of Patrol Garnell Green, both of whom are African American.

During Martin O'Malley's administration as mayor, the department had become 43% African American.

Step 1 - End the war on drugs
Step 2 - Follow the playbook that worked in racially divided 1970s Washington DC

No war on drugs would have saved this Gray guys life. He literally bolted for no reason. He had a switchblade on him, thats it. The laws in Maryland state that evasion for no reason means the cops are going to come get you.

Now I agree with ending the war on drugs but that will not stop these high crime areas from being high crime. We all know that.

What blueprint worked in 1970 DC? And why did it not last?..because DC has been a violent sh!thole since I was born in 79..
