Baltimore Unrest

Baltimore PD:

Currently, the department is administered by Commissioner Anthony Batts and Deputy Commissioner of Patrol Garnell Green, both of whom are African American.

During Martin O'Malley's administration as mayor, the department had become 43% African American.

Wow so a disproportionate amount are Black and that still can't get Baltimore off the most violent cities in America list.

Why is it so hard for some people to wrap around their minds that both parties are equally to blame? The cops and the rioters are both behaving like feral goons. Why is it that people want to takes sides and say these people are right, but the other side is wrong?

Depends who you want to blame for what.

War on drugs? Nixon
War on Poverty? LBJ

I think its a safe bet to say those two things have led to where a majority of the black community find themselves today.

You mentioned ratchet moms coming home to roost a few pages back and that sounds about right.

No war on drugs would have saved this Gray guys life. He literally bolted for no reason. He had a switchblade on him, thats it. The laws in Maryland state that evasion for no reason means the cops are going to come get you.

You have no idea why he bolted. I would say the most likely reason he bolted is because of his priors (there is no way it isn't a factor), which most were drug violations.

Shocker.

SO how do you fix this "police brutality" problem?

1. Put the departments in the areas of high crime.
2. Require officers to live in their coverage area.
3. Bring back cops walking a beat.
4. Teach people to smoke and inject drugs in the privacy of their own home until the laws change.
5. Immediately ban government housing and set a limit of subsidized housing per city block.

Freddie never caused the economy to crash and Freddie never started an illegal war. He was still arrested more times than any of the people responsible for those disasters.

Do you want to get Doc Brown and go back and change things so that we can prevent this particular death or do you want to improve on the issues of police brutality and racial division?

#5 is probably an unconstitutional taking of private property although there is probably some creative way to do it with a combination of increased property taxes and incentives for renting to low income earners assuming that the Maryland constitution doesn't have a prohibition against that sort of thing. Lumping everyone into a massive housing project has proven disastrous. People need to be spread around.

Please choose wisely, 79.

If we had no drug laws there would be virtually no economic activity in areas like West Baltimore. Not saying that the economic impact of the black market is a good reason to maintain the status quo but it is a consideration.

Doesn't require confiscation of property. The state approves all section 8 applicators and landlords. Very easy to deny either or both based on proximity and population density.

Thank you master sgt for your service, and for what you stand for.

You give them too much credit. What you suggest sounds logical on the surface, the consequences of such would lead to a far different outcome than a quell in looting.

Unless you really want this to occur in every city in America. Executing American citizens without a constitutional right to a jury trial is asinine. Also, you folks make jeebus weep with your willingness to have his children killed over stolen Old English and rock chucking.

Somehow I'm not surprised though.

Wow, took you this long to get religion into it.

They also have a history of killing police officers. Over 50 killed in the line of duty..
https://www.odmp.org/agency/214-baltimore-city-police-department-maryland

Did you actually LOOK at this link?
Earlier this year, an officer was killed when he hit a utility pole while chasing a suspect on a moped. In 2012, an officer was shot and killed while breaking up a fight. The shooter was a fellow officer who didn't realize that he was a cop.
You have to to go all the way back to 2007 to find the last officer who was actually killed in the line of duty by an actual suspect. There have only been 4 such incidents in Baltimore over 15 years.
Just one more dumb post from you. Smh

depends on your definition of "lengthy" but any of the northern cities that rioted during the Civil War. (new york and Baltimore) LA riots after the Lakers won (da bulls had some too but i don't think it was as bad). any number of European or South American riots after a soccer team wins or loses. also depending on what counts as abuse there were any number of drug based riots: 1970 Memorial Park being one by us whities, Washington Heights. The US Open of Surfing (twice). apparently Michigan State has a history of riots as well (sports related) Seatle Mardi Gras Riots. Ohio States "Chittfest" Riots.

the list goes on and on. and i tried to limit to the US.

Yeah, he asked to get one in the jimies with that post.

What does it feel like to have section 8 applied?

SO how do you fix this "police brutality" problem?

Lax laws? Nope. More laws? Nope. No cops? Maybe..

Maybe more black cops because chances are high relate to the locals? Well according to my black friends those are the worst ones to be in the neighborhood. But then even if it answer was to add more black cops does that mean lowering entrance requirements like many cities have done to add minority cops? That isn't fair to the civilians or the police departments. But ignoring that as well what does adding more black cops do? Does that mean the black cops are going to patrol the black areas? Would this become some sort of law enforcement segregation?

Ill be honest as a white guy looking in a LOT of times it appears as black folks only want black folks in their areas (I wont argue with them about it). Reminds me of something I studied in history class. What was that called?...Oh yeah! segregation. But we all know it wont be the same because this time it wont be enforced by whites so it will be ok. Right?

Plenty of black officials standing around doing nothing, or participating in the abuse.

No. Keep em confined to a certain area, that way we know what places to avoid . Don't want government housing near my house

How is this disproportionate, and whoever said that the level of violence in a city is determined by the color of the police force?

43%?..13% of the population...

The violence in a city statistically is not determined by the color of the police force.........
