Baltimore Unrest

You don't share information in an ongoing investigation. You wait until the investigation is completed and release it all.

Something might turn up in a later piece of evidence that contradicts what an officer may have said. If you released that info earlier, you now have a ****storm you've unnecessarily created where people like you start calling it a cover up/flawed investigation/etc

This is not true at all. They do it all the time. They don't share information when it will hurt the investigation. They don't share information when they need to cover butts.

So here is what we know:

* Gray suffered no physical injury during the arrest per reprots
* Whatever happened occurred in the van
* Prisoner in the van with Gray said the driver was not driving crazy
* Prisoner also said he heard Gray trying to intentionally injure himself
* Van driver had to stop the van and put Gray in full restraints after he became irate
* Now we hear that there was a head injury that matched a bolt in the prison van

It sounds like to me these cops are going to get off.

What about the other passenger in van that stated it was a quiet peaceful ride ?

This makes no sense.

If the officer says, "He was standing and fell and hit his head." and the statement is disproven, he's in a whole world of trouble either way.

In your scenario, the officer is in a whole world of trouble.

In a scenario where the department releases that info, only to have it disproven, the department is now in a world of trouble.

Question: Aren't all police cars and paddy wagons equipped with surveillance cameras for their own protection as well. If so, why hasn't anyone come out with a video of Gray being put in this vehicle?

Just asking.

The last thing I read was that there was a stop that was recorded on video by an independent person that was not reported by the police and that video is what has taken this report longer to unveil. From the way it has come across, some of the police tried to cover up something.

No. It's not.

If the chief says, "The officers on hand claimed Gray was standing in the van and clumsily fell and hit his head, causing death." the only people on the hook for that potential lie are the officers themselves.

The chief can't be in trouble for relaying this information. If he says, "our initial evidence indicates..." then yeah, he'd be misleading and he'd be in a world of trouble.

Exactly what do you think would happen to the chief/PD if he shared eye-witness testimony?

Interesting.

WTF did it take so long to come up with this story? If this is the real story, it should have been shared right away. I understand if there was more officer involvement they'd be careful about sharing information and incriminating an innocent officer, but it sounds like there was no officer involvement at all.

It makes no sense that it would take this long to give the public this answer.

If this came out the next day you'd be complaining that they didn't really look into it. They probably covered all bases.

Will be interesting to see if the other prisoner was buckled in. I think I heard that Baltimore finally updated their prison van seat belt policy a few days before the Gray incident. If the other prisoner wasn't buckled in and suffered no injuries that will further help the officers IMO.

You're not arguing points I made.

Are you saying that there are no gang members that value life? If that's what you're saying, then yes we disagree. If that's not what you're saying, you're just wasting my time. I did not say anything about them being "good people".

The time that is wasted here on things that aren't actually said, just made up, is f-ing ridiculous.

How is it even possible to do anything but waste time on a political internet forum? To think this is anything meaningful in any way is f'ing ridiculous.

You bring up an interesting point I hadn't thought of. It doesn't sound like the arresting officers did anything to Gray and I assume went on with their patrol after the van left. That would, I think, only leave the prison van driver as the only one who could theoretically be charged with any crime concerning Gray I would think. Also the van driver is the only officer that hasn't made a statement.

If you're just here to waste time, please leave. I like sharing ideas and learning from people. I like convincing people to take better positions, and being convinced there are better positions to take.

You may not think anybody ever changes their minds, but that's not true at all. The VN conversations about marijuana and gay marriage have completely shifted, since I've been around.

If you take this place somewhat seriously you'll get a lot more out of it. You'll also stop preventing others from getting more out of it.

Maybe VolNation posters can solve all the world's problems.

You don't like me not hanging on every ignorant syllable that drips out of your fingers you will have to excuse me. And I mean that in the least serious manner possible. That you get "meaning in your life" from an internet forum is really rather pathetic.

What's worse? Getting something out of this VN experience or wasting your life away because you have nothing better to do?

I feel sorry for you. You're on here way too much just to be wasting time.
