Baltimore Unrest

In what way? I would imagine that most of the problems are somehow directly related or tangentially related to the drug war. That is, perhaps other problems would exist in the community, but are exacerbated by the war on drugs.

Exacerbated some, yes I'd agree but not the root cause.

Sounds like you have a white guilt issue or you're saying black people are inherently dumb.

I didn't say that, WTF.

I'm not really sure what you mean by white guilt, but I don't see anything wrong with sympathizing with the plight of inner city dwellers. I probably sympathize because of my good Christian upbringing.

The same way it changed the education, transportation, entertainment, and voting systems of the 1950's and 60's: expose the inequality of drug laws by mass demonstrations to make the government evolve. That's the only way things will change; just annoy the f out of the govt until they do what you want. They will never get what they desire by burning buildings and stealing TV's, and Dr. King knew that.

The problem being, how many black leaders are going to step up these days and put an end to the looting and the violence? Or minimize it as a minimum.

For sure. The AA leadership today consists of crooks trying to make names for themselves. Definite void in leadership; they need someone of integrity that commands respect from all ethnicities to step to the forefront.

They thought it would be Obama, but let's not get into that. :)

There are three things you should never do on VolNation:

1. Discuss religion
2. Discuss homosexuality
3. Discuss black people

That being said, if you insist on having an opinion on any of these three, post and post infrequently about them. Quick in and quick out.

So far this has stayed somewhat civil, but the usual racists pos have stayed away.....for now.

Look it up.

I'm sorry, but I don't think this topic is funny. At. All.

I have a feeling you are gonna climb the ranks pretty fast around here.

One thing is for certain and that's your mentality has never and never will help the issue. I'm inclined to wonder if the CIA has gotten ahold of you.

I agree that there is a void in leadership but disagree that the leadership needs to be in the form of a prominent public leader. The leadership needs to be in the form of a father at home or at least a self reliant mother.

In other words I think you can trace the root cause of many of the problems within the AA community to social programs designed to ensure a guaranteed voter base.

Yes, and a lot of those social programs became much more ubiquitous once the war on drugs was in full gear.

I'm all in favor of full on legalization but I don't think that will be the cure.

At this point I don't think it would be a cure either. Early on, before all of the government entitlements got their claws in, I think it would have very nearly cured the problem. I still think legalizing and ending the drug war would help, though. The remainder of the cure would have to involve weening off entitlements.

I honestly cannot name but one racist on VN and I think he was banned. And I say this because I don't actually think he liked anyone but himself. So that wouldn't necessarily make him racist, just..... well I don't know.
