Bama fans are unhappy with the officiating, too. This photo was

Why would you say that?

Except to be a contrarian?

Do you really believe he was purposely punching at the Bama players helmet? I
No, he doesn't. There are about four guys I can think of, probably more, who show up every week to take the anti-Vol stance on all posts. They just have screen names that sound like they're Vol fans. Two of them are on this thread here.

Not wrong - there is a clip from the back side that showed the runner was not down. Had the runner rolled over the defender (which is what he was trying to do) and righted himself and continued down the field, he would have been given the yards on the replay. Even in the clip above you can see the runner is NOT down. The defender was punching at the ball. I agree he ended up making contact with the runner but it was absolutely not an intentional punch to a runner that was down.

Tweeted by a bammer fan site. Are they crazy?
They’re claiming he punched the guys head and not the ball which he actually punched… they’re complete morons who can’t see anything but their narrative… which is Bama is perfect and commits no penalties ever and everyone else commits 11 penalties per play every play.

After reading these posts I would need to look at it again but my impression at the time was that it should have been a penalty and possible ejection.

There is an alternate view of the play which shows the runner wasn't down and the punch was targeted at the football, which is probably why it was not called. That angle makes it look worse than it was.
This, but I would've been completely fine with a penalty and ejection.

Every time I see someone post about it I bring up woman punching thug burton kicking the defender.

To be fair it probably should’ve been a penalty. The intent was to punch the ball out though. He also attempted to chop the ball out of his hands as well. I would’ve been fine being penalized there if they call even half the holds and PIs against us.

FYP - if they had called even ONE of the holds and PIs against us. JUST A SINGLE ONE but nah, didnt do that.

Even Danielson said he was trying to punch the ball and missed. And I guarantee in shoulder pads his hand would get hurt more than the player. GBO

Im not arguing that he was down. That’s irrelevant - Herring gave a hard forearm right to the helmet. You just can’t do that

Vols are no different than any other fan base.
Bama fans can’t shut up about how the refs beat them in the Texas game

He didn't touch the ball.

I HATE it when defenders try and strip the ball instead of just tackling the ball carrier. It's drive me as crazy as when coaches go to a prevent defense late in games when only leading by one score or less. Drives me right up a wall.
It does result in a turnover more than I thought.

Burton committed the same foul and it wasn't called. So we are even.

Of course they focus on one play where they didn't get a call. What about other parts of the game, do the Bammers talk about that? I got to honestly ask if they will ever have to worry about taking a fair catch where they caught it because somebody on their front line raised an arm above their head during a kickoff.

Did we lose the game? Yes. But the truth of the matter is officials were looking for reason to throw flags on UT or manage the game in Bama's favor....on the flip side for Bama they were looking for reasons not to throw flags. How this isn't crystal clear to everybody is mind boggling.

There are folks who see the facts and do not get involved in conspiracy theories.
