Bama player appeared to hit woman as he left the field…

No, you should quit because you're embarrassing yourself.....
Not only is your morals off, but apparently your comprehension as well. If you'd read the comments, you're the main one everyone is trying to explain how your stance sounds stupid. What's embarrassing, is you refuse to see it, or can't. I'm leaning towards can't at this point.

Typical behavior from those moronic Bama players and fans. I have noticed that after every game that they loose one of their players or fans do something stupid. Stuff like Burton and this have been going on for twenty years.

Few observations from this story:

1. Burton was wrong, no qualifiers needed. You don't put your hands on women (or anyone for that matter) unless you are defending yourself
2. The video does not make clear the severity. Her reaction makes it seem bad. His nonchalant way of doing it makes it seem not as bad. The only thing we have is a blurry video showing he made some form of contact with her face and the victim herself saying she was slapped across the face. Anybody that can form a super clear opinion beyond that is reaching.
3. Two things can be true at once. Fans "shouldn't" be on the field for this very reason, and I'm sure there are many things that happened at the hands of Volunteers that night that we aren't proud of. What's also true is Burton is 100% responsible for his own actions, and he put his hands on a woman.
4. The McCullough reference is interesting. To what degree are we looking at this one differently because the victim is a male and the perp is a UT player? Without video, it's really hard to make a judgement here one way or another.
5. Another interesting comparison is fans that run onto the field in the middle of the game. Seems like players have the green light to lay them out if they want (look what Bob Wagner did two weeks ago to one such fan). Do we see these instances differently when the fan is a woman? Would we be OK with Wagner taking the exact same action against a woman?
6. The second video of Burton doesn't really show anything definitive and shouldn't really be used as evidence to bolster or detract from the claim made from the woman.

PB's final thoughts. Don't hit people, and while you're at it, stop grouping people (teams, fans, etc.) based on their worst offenders. We have some deplorables on our side too. Go Vols for the biggest win in years, and Congrats to the Tide for being the standard during that same time. GBO.

Player is going to be suspended or possibly kicked off team. You don't put your hands on people plain and simple. During the game yes. After game no. It's called grow up and be accountable for your actions.
If She wasn't on the field, not being accountable, it never would have happened.

As a football player, he gets pushed, shoved, hit, etc. - in order to keep from getting personal fouls and ejected from the game, he has to know how to control his emotions and reactions. In the video there was nothing that should have resulted with his reaction, assuming he is able to control such actions while playing against other football players in a real game.

People have rushed fields for years without problems. He hit her and it will be taken care of. As far as rushing the field it won't stop because of this incident. But the player I promise you will wish he made a different choice.

From the article, listen to the SEC Office: "This is why we have these rules," an SEC official told ESPN on Wednesday. "It was a great scene, but it's also a recipe for disaster when you have emotional players walking off the field and fans running around by them and celebrating."

So the SEC is blaming TN for Bama's Jermaine Burton punching a female fan. Ridiculous.

Alabama investigating claim WR Burton hit fan

Figured with the Alabama fans wanting to start rumors of someone getting beat up Saturday, it would be good to start this thread to show evidence of Jermaine Burton assaulting a girl.

I don’t think so. A “smack” would have to entail some sort of arm swing and I don’t see that at all. It looks like he just reaches out and touches her hair. Or something. I loathe Bama as much as the rest of you but don’t want to hang this guy out to dry for something he may not have done.

Weird none of their boards are talking about this

I heard it discussed on a Bama show today...their take was that it was basically an uncontrolled riot and players, coaches and fans alike were in danger...it was reported that Bama players had bottles thrown at them as they tried to get off the field, former player Kerry Goode - in a wheelchair with ALS - had Tennesse fans throwing drinks on him, Bama parents were being cussed out by Tennessee fans....how much is true? We'll probabbly never know.

I will say this, if you charge the field after a game and get close to a player on the opposing team, he doesn't know your intentions. If he defends himself against what he perceives as an attack, I'm perfectly ok with that. The players are supposed to be on the field - the fans are not.

Correct, you can fire for any reason but if you state the reason of firing, you have to fire everyone else that has committed the same act that got said person fired. I managed A restaurant for 11 years in Texas. Same laws. The company had some issues like this come up every so often. We were coached when in doubt, don’t give a reason just let them go if they’re a bad egg.

It isn’t a recipe for a disaster. It is a recipe for stupid people being exposed. And that is what we got.

You're correct, she could absolutely be charged with criminal trespass. Of course UT would never do that as they shouldn't. However, can you prove his intent? Can you prove what his state of mind was in that moment? The answer is no. Especially in that environment, in that moment, in that situation. He's going to say that when she ran toward him holding her phone in his face while walking through thousands of hostile fans, and he felt threatened and defended himself. Again, her choice was to violate a rule that is there "For the safety of participants and spectators alike." She suffered the consequence of having her phone knocked out of his face. This is being blown way out of proportion. I know it's great that we beat Bama, but come on. We just had one of our players get arrested for aggravated assault for beating a drunk guy so bad he knocked his teeth out. People on this board have been defending that for a week now. Hypocrisy knows no bounds.......
Serious question are you even a Vol fan? Your BS knows no bounds it would seem.

We've been hearing these words on and off, all our lives. And our parents and grandparents before. And theirs. Try as we might, we simply can't educate our way out of some small percentage of the population thinking this way.

It's her own damn fault she got raped. Shouldn't a been wearing that kind of dress.

It's the kid's fault he got hit. Shouldn't a been running out into the road after a toy without looking.

It's his fault he got hung from that tree. Shouldn't a ever been drinking outta that fountain.

Pity. But impossible to completely eliminate, no matter how hard we try.

I don't hit anybody. Your argument doesn't hold water, fella'. It's clear this guy didn't punch her. He swiped her phone out of his face. Take your orange rage and focus it somewhere else because you're going to be even more pissed when nothing happens with this.
I bet alot of Hollywood actors who lost their minds on paparazzi and broke their cameras, slapped them, whatever, would have loved to have had you on their juries so they didn't have to pay out all that money.

Usually I'd agree with you. But this isn't a good look. I think even saban knows this has to be handled right...
Sincerely hope you are right

Not even sure how valuable Burton is to the team, because Ole Nick definitely factors that in :p

Surprised at the number of defenders of beating females in here. Even one is too many, but there's at least half a dozen of you.

Don't be. I just came from SEC rant and there were literally people over there from multiple fanbases claiming it was her fault and she deserved it for putting herself in that situation. Anyone defending violence against anyone, and in this case a woman, may as well go ahead and admit they would tell a woman "if she didn't want it she shouldn't have dressed that way" after a sexual assault.

Tennessee is getting fined 100k for the fans being on the field. The SEC doesn't want fans rushing the field. This is one reason why.

And nothing serious happened this time.... imagine if someone got seriously hurt during a future field storming event - doesn't have to be at Tennessee - anywhere in the SEC. How would the SEC respond to say they are taking effective recurrence control?

He shouldn't have put His hands on Her. It wasn't a punch or slap. I used to "mush" my little brother all the time when got to close to Me...put my open hand on His face and push Him away. She shouldn't have been on the field. If the situations were reversed y'all would be defending the Tennessee player, let's enjoy the victory and move on.

No. No we wouldn't be. Just because she violated conference policy and did NOTHING ILLEGAL doesn't mean a male collegiate athlete can touch her, let alone violently. What the hell is wrong with some of you?
