It will be fun to see them sweat it out until may. I love it when Bammers start talking about the NCAA and how it is out to get them!
They're just too stupid to stay out of trouble for long.

Did Fulmer tell on them again. Shame on you Phil. You know bama never does anything wrong. I bet Phil hired Rod W. to get those books for those good ol boys.:dance2:

From what I'm hearing right now, I don't think they are going to lose any schollies.

I just read some of the posts over on their boards about this. You gotta love how they keep screwing up and then cry about being picked on by the NCAA.:shakehead:

I don't wish the death penalty for them at all, but loose a few schollies and post season play would be nice that would put 'ol Nick the di** and his bammers back in their rightfull place.

I don't think this article tells the whole story.

The costs for textbooks for student athletes at bama averaged 259 thousand dollars a year from 2000 to 2005 from another report I read. Then in 2007 the price jumped to 337 thousand dollars. I am not sure some of those books that were recieved were not resold and I don't think the NCAA is sure of that either. I think that is the "Major" question. Kids will be kids. I would bet some were sold to other students.

But either way the penelty will come because Alabama did not "Monitor" the whole mess. After being on probation within the last 5 years things like this are not taken lightly and they shouldn't be.

It also mentioned two people the University had froze their pay. Either they were supposed to be over this and knew it was happening or they weren't doing there job. Either way the NCAA isn't going to accept that defense or at least they shouldn't from a school who was told they could face the death penelty if they got in trouble again.

Alabama thinks they are above the rules. The NCAA needs to show them that they aren't.

Bingo, there is a lot missing to this story. Bama better find a big broom, and a big rug if you know what I mean.

Hope the NCAA brings out the yellow hammer on this one.

Hilarious comment from this article-

"Bamers un wad your panties.

The NCAA is not goint to bury the Tide over this. This is not a major infraction and unless the infractions committee turns something else up all that is going to happen is a slap on the head.

Now if something else turns up in the next 5 years, start the funeral march. It will all be history.

By the way as an Auburn Grad, Alabama Native, I am not happy with bama being in trouble. It makes the whole state look stupid. As for Tricky Nick, I look forward to a bunch of Iron Bowls played against him. No worries at all. We will win some and we will lost some.

War Eagle (Don't worry be happy, bamers.)"

Hilarious, I say

bama reported this started in 05, if so, then this definately falls under the repeat violator category

this is from wiki on the death penalty, im not saying bama will get, or deserve it(yeah they deserve it!!lol) but, it is a very real possibility. man i would laugh and laugh and laugh at the poor pitiful bammers!!!

The "death penalty" is currently a punishment under the NCAA's "repeat violator" rule. Since 1985, if a second major violation occurs at any institution within five years of being on probation in the same sport or another sport, that institution can be barred from competing in the sport involved in the second violation for either one or two seasons. In cases of particularly egregious misconduct, a school can also be stripped of its right to vote at NCAA conventions for four years. The NCAA has always had the power to bar an institution from competing in a particular sport, and can still do so without any preliminary sanctions in cases of particularly egregious misconduct. However, under the "repeat violator" rule, it has specific instances where it either must do so or explain why it didn't

I will say it. They should get the death penelty. You either play by the rules or you don't. There is 70 thousand dollars that were paid or "gave in extra books". Whatever you want to say. It is a major violation within the 5 year window. Granted I hate Alabama. But that really doesn't play into this. It is black and white. The info is there for everyone to see.

What is so unbelievable is how the media has handled this. Kiffin uses a guys name on the radio, holds a fake presser for recruits and uses a smoke machine and he is the biggest cheater in the world. Bama pays or in their own words "gave extra books" to players and it isn't reported almost anywhere. They gave atheletes extra books at no cost. Which is clearly agaist the rules. And you can hardly find a word printed about it.

They should be given the death penelty.

does this mean they will probably get a slap on the wrist? i dont see how if they are breaking probation with the same thing that got them on probation.

Alabama's response to the NCAA was based on arguments that:
- A textbook system was in place, though "it simply failed to do an adequate job."
- Wrongdoers did not knowingly violate NCAA rules.
- The "vast majority" of violations were unintentional.
- The infraction was isolated, and benefits were of an academic nature, and no cash exchanged hands.

Um BS!!!!

The benefits were of an academic nature?

What did they do, give the books to someone that had a chance to pass the course.
