Alabama is about the 113th ranked team in penalties/gm this season. They get flagged a lot every game. They are an undisciplined team.

I did not see one penalty called against Bama that was not justified. And the pi in the endzone some bama fans were complaining about on the interception was very clearly a pi

I thought so at first, but changed my mind. There was helmet contact, but our guy was not leading with his helmet. You don't tackle standing straight up, so yeah, the helmet was forward. If you look at the words for the penalty, I don't think that play rose to targeting. jmho

Absolutely right. And after watching the last play of the texas a&m game, bama actually should have been called for pi on that play, had his arm wrapped around the receiver way before the ball got there.

Also just rewatched, saw no penalty on Bama that they didn't clearly commit. I did however see what I thought was a huge missed call I didn't notice at the game. When it's 3rd and 20 with Young in the endzone, we blitz and Banks smashed into Young who throws it as Banks gets there. There's no one around but a Bama offensive lineman where he throws it. He's in the pocket and I don't think it got back to the line of scrimmage. It should have been grounding in the endzone with a safety for us and Bama punting it away. Instead they just got to punt without the safety. We scored but 9 right there would have been better than 7.

Look Alabama has no complaint against the zebras. Truth be told they've been the beneficiaries of a ton of calls over time. Hell maybe we have too. But it does swing both ways...its college football. Just ask 2021 TN vs Purdue. It's part of the game you can't control. If you take care of you - like make your FG (you control that), catch that pass, then you might've won. As it stands, two great plays by TN got our kick, and the knuckle ball didn't miss. We won what we controlled. End of story. Bubba's are fighting a bigger issue, they just can't admit it to themselves yet.

I once had a Bama fan tell me (when I said, we don’t have to just beat y’all, we have to beat the refs too)… ‘well, if you were good enough, the refs calls wouldn’t matter’….. bwahahaha

I wouldn't count on it. Saying that though kind of diminishes what Heupel has done. When Saban hit the SEC, Fulmer and others were considered the top coaches. They didn't so much slip as a new era and breed of coach displaced them. I'm hopeful that Heupel's leadership and then his coaching are doing that again. Leadership and culture survive shifts in style of play and scheme. Saban's way of doing things has.
