BCS Top 10

I don't know, Wyoming can get a two for one deal with Texas. Yeah, that's right. Texas, during the '09 season, played Wyoming in Laramie.

Good, that's the way it ought to be sometimes, the whole argument here is about the BCS dictating to everyone else where to go and what to do and how good or terrible you are because you don't belong to an AQ conference.

Didn't watch the game. Was watching USC-Cal and Aubie-Arky. Just going off of what I heard.

Still, my point stands. Texas isn't exactly a creampuff.

Never said they were but my point is you can't* hold Va. Tech's loss to James Madison agaisnt BSU if you aren't going to hold Texas' loss to UCLA against OU. It's one or the other, not both.

I didn't say I thought Boise was no good. They just haven't put together a resume that would be strong enough to warrant consideration for a MNCG.

And there is a way to help your schedule. Take the damn 2 for 1's that've been offered to you. Lots of teams are willing to play Boise. It's just that none of them want to do it on BSU's terms.

And good for them, I would imagine most BCS teams they approach don't want to play in Boise. Like you would ever in a million years see Ohio State play AT Eastern Michigan.

They shouldn't complain when they're in the outside looking in because of it.

Boise has virtually no chance of losing and Oregon and Oklahoma still have fairly decent chances. Putting Boise #1 right now would be insane.

As it stands, they are ranked ahead of 4 unbeaten teams, 2 of which come from the conference that's won the last 4 National Championships.

Yes, but Auburn, LSU, and/or Bama will jump Boise and/or TCU when the win/if the SEC championship game provided one of these three finish the season without losing.

Except that James Madison isn't exactly UCLA, no matter how bad UCLA is.

Virginia Tech was a top 15 team that got beat by a 1-AA team. That effects Boise's schedule because their marquee win of the year was against a team that was found to be overrated.

And OU's played teams like Air Force(funny, that's another mid-major that never seems to lack a few good OOC games), and Florida State in their OOC, which is about the same strength as BSU's OOC, if not better.

I don't know, I feel like BSU is probably tired of taking flak for being in a mid-major and doesn't want to play ball with the big boys like other members of their conference do. I say that knowing nothing of these deals, just that I would imagine they feel like they've earned the right to play a team like USC in a home and home series. If it were me that's how I would feel.

They can do that for a game or two. If Boise State had Tennessee's schedule, they'd go 8-4.

Just out of curiosity, who do you think the 4 losses would be to? Maybe Oregon (they have already beaten basically that same team), Maybe LSU, and definitely Bama.

Who else in the SEC right now would give them a game? I don't think it is unreasonable to assume they would be a 10-2 team, at worst, with UT's schedule this year. Right now I think they would easily handle UGA and UF, and squeak past SC.

Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.

The team that Boise played to open the '09 season was a completely different team than what Oregon is right now.

If Boise wants more home and home's, they need to drop the payout they require for an away game. They also need to learn that they won't get much more that they're getting now if they continue to try and negotiate games on their terms.

The only mid-major who can truly get home and home series without much bargaining is Hawai'i. Heck, USC plays in Honolulu all the time, it seems(even though it's just been '05 and '10).

If they're in the East, then 10-2 is a very reasonable expectation. If they were in the West, 9-3, 8-4 could be the expectation.

With Tennessee's schedule, I'd see Oregon, Florida, Alabama, and LSU as losses.

Not the point, the point is that they are beating up on these teams like any elite program would. They have consistently shown over the years and this year that they do not play down to competition and when they play the big boys they handle business, go ask Bob Stoops and Chip Kelly what I'm talking about.

Let's take a look at Boise State's BCS record over the last 10 years.

2000 - Arkansas (6-6, L 38-31); Washington State (4-7; L 42-35) - non-BCS record 10-0
2001 - South Carolina (9-3; L 32-13); Washington State (10-2; L 41-20) - non-BCS record 8-2
2002 - Arkansas (9-5; L 41-14); Iowa State (7-7; W 34-16) - non-BCS record 11-0
2003 - Oregon State (8-5; L 26-24) - non-BCS record 13-0
2004 - Oregon State (7-5; W 53-34) - non-BCS record 11-0
2005 - Georgia (10-3; L 48-13); Oregon State (5-6; L 30-27); Boston College (9-3; L 27-21) - non-BCS record 9-1
2006 - Oregon State (10-4; W 42-14); Oklahoma (11-3; W 43-42) - non-BCS record 11-0
2007 - Washington (4-9; L 24-10) - non-BCS record 10-2
2008 - Oregon (10-3; W 37-32) - non-BCS record 11-1
2009 - Oregon (10-3; W 19-8) - non-BCS record 13-0

Total record - 113-16
Total record against non-BCS opponents - 107-6
Total record against BCS opponents - 6-10

What a bunch of world-beaters. Boise State had more wins against 1-AA opponents (8-0) than against BCS opponents, who they played twice as often.

Boise didn't require a payout for the away game in a home and home. Like every other team in CFB, Boise requires a payout for a one-and-done. The reason teams schedule Hawai'i (besides the location) is that it doesn't count against the maximum number of games you can schedule if you play at Hawai'i- you can play 13 regular season games instead of 12 if you play at Hawai'i.

So, you're saying BSU is 6-1 vs AQ schools since '06?

Dan Hawkins' Boise State Broncos and Chris Petersen's Boise State Broncos are two very different entities.

He was an excellent bridge between Pokey Allen/Dirk Koetter and Chris Petersen, but Hawkins didn't accomplish anything that Koetter couldn't manage.

I'm still not above saying that MOV needs to be taken into account.

I believe that the human polls are what should sort that out. I'd rather not put more power into the hands of computer programmers. In a way, the polls do factor it in every time a vote is cast. If Boise State looked like absolute garbage against San Jose State and only beat them by a touchdown, I'd have to assume that they would slip quite a bit with voters.
