BCS Top 10

I don't think I'm making that much of a stretch here.

Obviously these things are impossible to know, Boise has never had that week in and week out grind that you do with the SEC. One injury can change the whole fortune of some of these teams.

But would anybody here not find it at least somewhat reasonable to say that Boise's best team ever would win the worst SEC East ever? That's all I'm trying to say.

Sure, but I find it also reasonable that a team who has never had to prepare for equally or more talented teams on a weekly basis might have trouble.

Have troubles? Yes. Go unbeaten? Not a chance in hell. But could they win the east this year? Probably.

I fail to see how VT losing to James Madison affects BSU's standings in the BCS. As long as Boise didn't lose to JM it shouldn't affect anything.

It affects their strength of schedule which is a big part of the BCS rankings.

Really still can't say they'd handle the physicality of the SEC. South Carolina, Bama, LSU, and UGA would really wear on them.
South Carolina and Bama, yes. But you know deep down that Stephen Garcia stands at least a 50/50 shot of blowing the game for them... Count Lattimore in if you want to or not. Bama would trounce them.

If Dan Hawkins' Buffs can beat Georgia, Boise could damn sure do it. LSU is more talented at a majority of the positions, but that hasn't kept Les Miles from having possibly the worst 7-0 of the last decade. In a matchup in which it could come down to coaching, Petersen would straight abuse the hat.

Face it; by its usual standards, the SEC is absolutely horrid this year (particularly the east), possibly not even the best conference in America, and the only two good teams reside in Alabama. LSU has the talent but Miles could literally lose any game at any point and we all know it.

Arkansas isn't good? And I can't bash an undefeated LSU squad. Les Miles is horrid, but he keeps winning.

Even MSU is solid this year. Same for South Carolina.

Les Miles is an idiot, but he wins. As far as UGA goes, Boise is coming off games against Oregon, UF and at LSU in a four week span going into that game in this scenario. UGA still has more talent and Boise is absolutely beat up going into that game.

Agree to disagree.

I'm pulling for Auburn in this race. Mostly because I love UT and the enemy of my enemy is my friend. There is nothing more wrong with sports than Alabama football.

Facing all three of those teams decimates Boise.

I am too.

I'd love to see 5 titles in a row by the SEC. (4 in a row by a different SEC team. SEC holds the record now with 3 different teams in a row from a conference)

War Eagle!

I would rather see Boise win it than Auburn. I'd rather not have a national champion than see a guy who won 5 games in two years in the Big 12 get a ring. Especially considering his team has by far the worst defense of any team with title aspirations.

You really don't like Chizit.

I don't hate him, but I still think he's pretty overrated. His feat at Iowa State was pretty awful, and I think his job at Auburn last year was pretty overrated. I'll give him credit for his last recruiting class, but I think that had a lot to do with Malzahn being an interesting OC, while the promise of playing time had to be enticing. Not to mention he probably convinced recruits his 8 win season was more impressive than it really was.

Kinda like Kiffin eh?

It was a different situation. Kiffin was taking over a team that had finished under .500 2 of the previous 4 years and with 4 losses the other 2 years. Tubs had bad year in 2008, but Auburn had won on average, 11 games each of the previous 4 seasons. 2008 sucked, but I think he wins 9 or 10 if he was there last year. I still don't think they made the right decision firing him, to be honest.

If I had to guess how this plays out, I'd say Malzahn leaves in a couple years or so to try to be a head coach, and things get worse for both guys at that point.

They wouldn't be in the situation they are in right now if Tubs was there.

Kiffin-
Great success as a coordinator
Not proved anything as a HC
Hyped because of his recruiting and hiring of great recruiters
Relies heavily on a coordinator

Sound familiar

Yes, but Kiffin getting 7 regular season wins was more impressive than Chizik doing so last year. And in spite of his bad record with the Raiders, he did take a 2 win team and improve them. Chizik took a team winning about 7 games a year, won 5 combined games in two years, and then now that he's gone, they won 7 this year and could well get there again.

Tuberville went unbeaten at Auburn once. Chizik is unbeaten now, but they'll blow it. So far, their most impressive win is probably a game where they gave up 45 points.

I don't think Chizik is going to be out coaching Meyer or Saban any time soon. I just find it funny that so many of the people that were high on Kiffin, aren't high on Chizik.

There's reasons to justify that position, in my opinion. Kiffin had a bad record, but he inherited an awful team with a crazy owner in arguably the toughest division of the NFL. Chizik drove a mediocre team into the dirt in the Big 12 North. Also, Kiffin has connections and could put together a great staff, with great recruiters and guys with NFL experience, while Chizik has guys like Trooper Taylor on board.
