Beer (and beer pics!)

I absolutely think it can, right size IMO. We are scrambling to catch up with Asheville, but their size will limit them, certainly not their fervor. I wish someone would really fix the requirement of a distiller's license to brew high gravity beers. That's what TN is missing IMO. No real way to make DIPAs, Barleywines, RIS, etc. That's where the giants in craft beer distinguish themselves, with the exception of sours and a few others.

The distiller's thing is a big deal. There need to be much friendlier "rules" for brewers in Nashville before we can get too big. Yazoo can produce high grav beers, but only do 1 production one.

CSB will be debuting thier first high grav this Friday and will likely have it at ENBF. They have a first class brewer.

New Belgium Rampant Imperial IPA: delicious and unique taste, thanks to some carefully chosen hops.

I'm going to the 18th annual CLASSIC CITY BREW FEST on Sunday, April 7 in Athens, GA, and wanted to share details on this event that some national beer publications have voted as one of the USA's Top Ten Beer Fests. This will be my 5th time going.

The BrewFest offers 300 world-class beers for sampling with only one low ticket price, along with a cask ale pavilion with 15+ rare real ales made just for the event. There's also live steel drum music from Tropical Breeze, and all proceeds benefit the Athens-Area Humane Society. Click on Classic City Brew Fest - Athens, GA for tickets, and join me at the fest.

How many tickets are sold? Are the lines long?

I don't work for the marketing firm or anything like that; just letting people know. It always sells out online, 750 tickets are sold. The actual line to get in is long, but goes fast. Get there a little early, no problem. Check out the website!

That's weird that they've been on sale and haven't sold a small event out. I'd love to go but Athens is 6 and a half hours according to google (so about 5.25 hours). Bit too far for me.

At the terminal brew house here in Chattanooga. Starting off with a Belgian wit. Very good taste. They have a Scottish ale that I think I am going to try next. I will post pictures later

Four Friends I-77 IPA - been meaning to try something by them, tried this at the new Tilted Kilt in Matthews, NC.

Mild for an IPA but definitely a hops nudge and had a hint of sweetness. Seems the last several new IPAs I've tried are toning down the mega-citrusy front loaded bitterness?

The atmosphere was a bit disappointing, thought Charlotte area had more talent then that. Beer selection was above average though.

Belgian Wit looks wicked!

Got a sweet spot for the Scottish stuff. Trying to move out of this phase and move on, stop pulling me back in :)

The wit was really good and I love that style, but that Scottish ale blew me away. It was the first Scottish ale I have had and I think it will turn me on to this style. The terminal here in Chattanooga has been cranking out some really good beer here lately.

For Scottish Ales try:

Twisted Kilt by Thirsty Dog (OH)
90 Shillings by Odell (CO)
Claymore by Great Divide (CO)

You won't be able to get any of those in tn. Since you live in chatty, you might try beverage world in ft. Oglethorpe for the great divide. I think St. Louis is the closest you can get for Odell's. If looking for a good Scottish ale you can get in TN, Moylan's Kilt Lifter should be available at liquor stores that carry a good high gravity selection.

:hi: Thanks. I will check that out. I have been meaning to get to Beverage World and just haven't made it yet.
