Beer (and beer pics!)

Anyone tried anything from Sante Adairius Rustic Ales? I may start trading in the summer so I can get my hands on stuff like that.

Any trading tips? Me and buddy will do it, to make it less expensive.

Very hard to come by. I've had Saison Bernice, jonesing for West Ashley.

It's currently the #1 brewery I want to try. I'd like to take a trip out to California and visit breweries. I'm sure most do, though, haha.
Them and Societe have always been high on my wants list. I'd still prefer Oregon and Colorado.

While you're visiting Sante Adairius, don't miss out on The Rare Barrel. Luckily I knew someone at the brewery and they conviced me to be a Founder (original society member) Expensive as hell but puts out consistently awesome sours.

I've recently heard about them, as well. So many good breweries out there.

Just got down on the Stone Green Tea IPA, New Belgium Slow Ride, and Erie Skippers Stout.

Now it's gym time. Not sure how this is gonna go.

Yes, sir!

I don't really trade much, but obviously it would be special release stuff, especially brewery only releases like Yazoo's embrace the funk stuff. Limited and only can get there. after that any of the special releases by breweries like wiseacre, straight to ale, blackstone. I know the terrapin releases of the moo hoo specialty releases trade very well outside of the region

Wow, I didn't know that there was an entire beer thread when I made my post earlier today. Anyway, I wanted to share it here too. Knoxville - specifically, the 4th and Gill area - will be getting a new, and incredible, brewery this spring. Crafty Bastard is the creation of the hard work and effort of a couple of good friends of mine, and should be opening sometime around April.

They did a tasting at Pretentious Beer Glass on first Friday, and will have a few more events with free tastings over the next few weeks or so. At First Friday they did a really cool porter event, with a Tennessee Chili Cherry Porter, a Winter Warmer with molasses and raisins, and a dark stout infused with Raspberry and Chocolate via a Randall.

They have a kickstarter going, trying to get a bit of extra money in order to build an outdoor patio and improve the plans for the indoor space. As you all know, by contributing to a Kickstarter you get some cool stuff, and a connection to a great addition to the Knoxville community. It's worth a look.

However, even if you don't want to donate, or don't have the funds available, I would check out their FB page so you can keep up with events and their schedule. It'll be a great way to taste some really good beer for free!

Above is the kickstarter link. You can also find them on Facebook by searching Crafty Bastard Brewery. And if you search for them on Untappd, you can see reviews and rating of 18 of their brews. They do a very eclectic and adventurous style of brewing, and offer a host of interesting types and tastes.

Toured the Wicked Weed Funkatorium...it's all good...really. All good.

Also toured the new Sierra Nevada brewery. Just an amazing place.

I went to the Funkatorium in January - it was awesome! The Terra Locale Appalachia might have been the best beer I had that trip to Asheville. You could really taste the grits, which was a really surprising and interesting taste in a beer. It was like being on your grandparents front porch.

First time having this. Sure is good.

Sorry to have volatiled the pic like that.

There is a new brewery in Nashville called Honky Tonk. While the name is cliche as ****, the West Coast IPA is excellent.

Does anyone have a suggestion to transition from light beers to craft beers?

I've heard Samuel Adams is great to start off with.

That's a good choice. Sierra Nevada Pale Ale is another - great gateway to hoppyness. You may not like it at first, but give it lots of chances. Also, porters and stouts are dark, but not very bitter. Milk stouts are great. Oatmeal too.
