Beer (and beer pics!)

This beer is so phenomenal, I cannot even fathom how to describe it. Also, love the tab, which opens up like drinking out of a glass.

Has a bit of a shadow. I can see it's a DIPA. What's the name and brewery?

I have had a couple of good DIPA's recently.

Had a Soulless from Rivertown, a Honey Hemp from Great River Brewery, and a Barrel Aged Double Uncommon Stout from Bent River Brewery last night. All were quite tasty.

Had a 6 pack of Tennessee blonde ale last night. It's made by fanatic brewery in Knoxville.

I enjoyed it. Had a good flavor and wasn't strong. I'd buy it again. I'll see if I can't find some of their other offerings and try those next.

FYI... The beer Mantra honored me with is out there at establishments. I know places in Murfreesboro and Clarksville have it.

I wasn't able to make the event at Mantra but I got to try Goo Goo Gish at The Green Dragon last night. Wow! It was amazing! Tastes like you/re eating a Goo Goo Cluster and smells like chocolate milk.

I have a question from the seasoned beer consumers of volnation.

I bought a 6 pack of fanatic pale ale tonight. I have finished the 6 pack and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Last week I bought a 6 pack of Tennessee blonde ale and enjoyed it.

Both beers were brewed by the same brewery in Knoxville.

The tennessee blonde was smooth light and very flavorful.

The fanatic pale ale was stronger and had strong flavors.

The flavors to me started out chocolaty, tobacco, and flowery. The after taste to me is a metal taste which is strong for my liking.

I enjoy drinking Sierra Nevada and it has a lot of the same flavors.

I'm a very frugal human by nature and will normally keep yuengling in the fridge due to taste versus cost. After drinking both of these beers recently the taste difference was very obvious.

So,after drinking many Sierra Nevada beer and the fanatic pale ale I came to the conclusion that I enjoy drinking those types of beer, but I enjoy the lighter more subtle taste of the blonde ale better. I have found that the commercialized beers like coors, bud, miller, etc are good for cheap buzzed drinking, but for flavor are non-existent.

So, my question is: do the seasoned beer aficionados of volnation also taste the metallic after tinge of stronger darker beer or is it an aquired flavor that takes awhile to appreciate? Is that flavor a stronger hopps flavor profile or what is it that I'm tasting. Should I try another IPA or stout and that metally flavor disappear?

anybody have a mexican beer or two for Cinco de Mayo?

sadly I didn't get to celebrate on Thursday, but I'll probably head to a mexican restaurant tonight that has a Dos X Amber and Negra Modelo on tap, two of my favorite Mexican beers

For me, all beer was an acquired taste but once i liked it i quickly shifted my taste to craft beer. IPA is my favorite. Double IPAs = muy bien. Not a big fan of blondes. The less i have to drink to feel a buzz, the better.

Pretty much agree with all of this. I actually didn't acquire a beer taste until close to graduating college. Then I only drank the light beer for about 10-12 years until several years ago. Now, the light stuff has no flavor, including many of the blondes. I am into IPA's and DIPA's as well. Not sure of the metallic taste he speaks of- maybe the hops? Just takes getting used to. I love grabbing new things to try, but the market is getting very saturated. I am taking trips to Charleston and Iowa in the next few months, so I am interested to see what I can find. I also like to start out with a high percentage. The older I get, I don't care to drink quantity anymore unless it is just for something really special.

Not sure what you mean by "metallic after tinge". Drinking a beer from a bottle with a rusty cap is the only thing that sounds like. Drink a Black Tuesday with me and we will see what flavor you are talking about.

Just looked up the Black Tuesday and it sounds like a thick dark beer.

I'm game, I'll see if they have them in town next time I buy beer.

Maybe the term "metal" may have been the wrong description, but it's hard to describe the aftertaste or lingering flavor of IPA beer when I'm drinking it.

IPAs/Double IPAs, stouts/Imperial stouts, and saisons for me. So good.
