Beer (and beer pics!)

Hey folks,

So haven't posted in here lately because I'm in some pretty serious health trouble. Bottom line I'm in the hospital with a rare cancer fighting with dialysis to live. But this isn't a downer post. I'm being honored this Saturday with my own namesake beer brewed by mantra artisan ales. It's a beer that is based of my fathers and I favorite candy bar...goo goo cluster. Even the goo goo folks approve it. It is a stout with choc, vanilla and caramel favors and wil be called "goo goo Gish". As I'm still hospital bound, I can't make th special tapping this Saturday, I just wanted to pass along the info and proud and touching news to my fellow vfl beer lovers.

Fight the fight bud. Let me know if there is anything I can do.

Keep up the fight brother. I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers. God speed and god bless.

Praying for you my friend. Pretty cool they are making a beer in your honor. Keep us updated as much as you can.

Picked up some Dogfish Head "Beer to Drink Music To" (Belgian Tripel), can't wait to try one this weekend.

In case any of you Tennessee folk are planning on coming to the Rocket City Brewfest (and if you aren't yet, wtf is wrong with you), you can now get early bird tickets for 33.00

Went to Mantra and tried your beer today. It does your name well, fantastic beer.

Was on the website but didn't see many details on what the ticket includes..

Does the ticket get you free "samples" or are there additional fees once inside?

Edit: nvm, I see they have some law requiring them to charge for the beer inside the gates.. But it's only a penny. So donate $.50 and drink all day. Says they go by the "honor system."

Reminds me of a time in college at UT. I visited my brother in Atlanta with a friend. Before leaving for Knoxville, we played golf north of Atlanta on Sunday morning. We made the turn and were told that the club couldn't sell beer on Sunday but offered two complementary ones with a purchase of a round.

Thanks! Makes me feel good to hear! After 3 weeks, I came home today. It's pretty miraculous. Week one I was told I wouldn't make it to the end of the week. Week 2 I was told I would end up spending the rest of my days in a hospital bed on constant dialysis. End of week 3, I'm home. Still got a fight, but they don't know how or why I survives this, in fact I was asked if they could write me up as a case study. God bless Vanderbilt hospital.

ive been every year it's been going on (8 years) and I have never paid a cent once I got in. I don't think I have seen anyone pay anything actually. You pay for your ticket and that ticket gets you a glass that is about the size of a three shot glasses. Then you just go around and drink basically

Well, that is awesome! Keep fighting, more prayers your way.
