Beer (and beer pics!)

Hit a lot of breweries in Asheville last week:

Sierra Nevada is so cool. I think my fave was the Easy meets West IPA.

Also hit Twin leaves, Bhramari, Greenman and others.

Honestly the Ballast Point Even Keel session IPA out of San Diego is blowing me away right now!

The East meets West is really good.

New Glarus Raspberry Tart is still one of my favorite beers. I wish they brewed it year-round like Serendipity, Belgium Red, etc.

We are going next month. We plan on going to Wicked Weed, New Belgium, Burial, and maybe one other. Location is part of the selections. How would you compare Sierra Nevada with the others?

The Sierra Nevada one is like the Beverly Hills of breweries. Pricey tapas but the beer and the atmosphere are insanely cool. Its by the airport outside of town so its a trip to itself but well worth it. We hit Chimney Rock and went there on the way back to town, made a great day!

Thanks. Just not sure if we have the time to travel out since we will be within walking distance of the others. I had read that New Belgium is state of the art as well. Too many decisions.

W didnt get a chance but Hi Wire has a little place downtown that is next to a really cool eclectic beer garden. Hi Wire also has a "bigtop" in Biltmore Park that looks really cool. Looking forward to hearing what you think!

Have you had that Westbrook/Evil Twin collaboration yet? I think I may open it up this week at a bottle share.

Not yet. Waiting for my buddy's twins to arrive to pop it.

I've been working on finding something to send you back in return, but it's been slim pickens for comparable stuff here lately.

Dogfish Head tap takeover last night. 60-, 90-, and 120-Minute IPAs plus bought a bottle of World Wide Stout. Forgot how awfully boozy 120 is at 18%.

I don't know if I've mentioned this yet, but the bike shop I work at is moving a couple hundred feet down the road, building a new building, and will also house a brewery and tap room. Should be open sometime this winter.

8 Wired Gypsy Funk -- really, really good, if you like sours. Dry hopped, barrel fermented...a lot going on, which is a good thing to me

Evil Twin Sumo In A Sidecar IPA - Refreshing IPA and dangerously drinkable at 7%.

Evil Twin Molotov Lite DIPA - Hops, Grapefruit and bitterness. I enjoyed it but would not choose this one very often.

Had Crooked Stave Nightmare on Brett Street and also their Provision Saison. Both are stellar.

Crooked Stave is quickly becoming one of my favorite breweries.

I've got a passion fruit sour in the fridge. Hard to pull the trigger on Nightmare for $30/bomber.

Buy basement and that transmigration of souls next to it. They are both damned good.

If you can find the raspberry Nightmare on brett street, buy it. I had mine the other day and it was one of-- if not the-- best sours I've ever had.

Mcscrooge's was out of that one, but they had a spot and price tag for it
