Recent beers I've had:

Prairie Artisan Brett C - sour, but not overwhelmingly so. My girlfriend really enjoyed it.

Kona Hanalei IPA - It's sweet.

Single Speed Cargose Shorts. - Pretty sour, but not really my thing. Really thin.

Ballast Point Unfiltered Scuplin IPA - Very, very drinkable. I could sit in the sun and pound these all day.

Surly Xtra-Citra - Yeah, really good. One of my all-time faves.

Sierra Nevada Tap room in Berkeley

EZO IPA - Not a fan
Otra Vez Gose with Lime and Agave - not my style, but well made. Lots of lime.
BCAW - Boneyard - West Coast DIPA - really good IPA, dangerously easy to drink.
Know Good IPA - another easy drinking IPA.

TN folks, you might have noticed that Prairie and Crooked Stave came into market over the last few weeks.

McScrooge's should be getting some Cantillon in the coming weeks/months. And CBS is coming back! McScrooge's should also be getting some of that once it hits the markets.

Asheville's Burial should be expanding their beer footprint into TN here soon as well.

Good beer events are on the horizon for TN locals.

Prairie and Crooked Stave must be coming into East TN. I usually get updates from my local store and haven't heard anything in West TN. I know distribution isn't as good over here.

I have mentioned before that we are planning a trip to Asheville near the end of September. We will be there 3 nights and 2 full days. We might be close in proximity to Wicked Weed, so we are planning to go there. I know the Funkatorium is a spin-off, so we may go by there as well. I had heard New Belgium's facility is nice, so that might be an option. For those of you who have been, what are your top 3 breweries to visit? Also, any restaurant suggestions?

Thanks.

Crooked Stave is really good!

I've had quite a few of their sours that are available to East TN. Stuff is fantastic. Have a bottle of their Nightmare on Brett Street Raspberry waiting to be cracked open when my friend taps his home brewed IPA he is currently making.

Thanks.

Funkatorium, New Belgium, and Sierra Nevada are musts. Burial is very good, and Catawba often has very good stuff (if you go to Catawba, hit up Buxton Hall for BBQ next door). Innovation is a ways out of town, but has recently added some very good sours.

Thanks. I think we are lining up the Funkatorium, New Belgium, and Burial. Not sure we will get to Sierra Nevada since it is outside the city.

Mock, we may stop in Knoxville on the way to Asheville next month. We will only have time to look in a store. Give me 3 good beers sold in a store from Knoxville or the surrounding area. Also what can I get there from Prairie and Crooked Stave that is good?

Well in Knoxville the only answer for Craft Beer is McScrooge's I was a supervisor there, but I had my last day this week to focus on graduating from school. They have a huge selection that got ~160 beers bigger this Tuesday. When you go in there just find Nick, the beer supervisor. He's like 5'10" with a huge beard. He will be able to hook you up with what items are must buys.

As for Prairie, they have Paradise, Bomb, Saison, 4th Anni Sour, and Funky Golden Mosaic.

Crooked Stave is a bigger lineup with everything from their Nightmare on Brett street to the petite sours series and the reserve series. Can't remember the name of all of them

Maybe. My Dad is a wine guy, and he says that Constellation has ruined good wineries after purchase. Just depends.

This has been happening in the wine business for a number of years. Giants like Constellation along with a few families are buying up Boutique and Cult wineries non stop. It is rather sad when this happens, but you can't blame the owners for selling because the offers are usually sky high.

Finally made it to Mcscrooge's at the earlier recommendation in this thread. Holy smokes, that's a collection. They have numerous Prarie and Crooked Stave brews in (picked up a Paradise Stout and passion fruit sour, respectively). They had a ton of Mikkeller, but they are also very pricey and I don't know anything about them. Anyone with experience with these Copenhagen brews? Can you justify $10/12oz?

They were out of the Nightmare on Bretts.

Also grabbed an 8 Wired (New Zealand) sour.

Will report back.
