Beer (and beer pics!)

I love IPA's. What are some favorites you would recommend?

Ballast Pt - Unfiltered Sculpin, Grapefruit Sculpin
Bell's - Hopslam
CC - Jai Alai
Bearded Iris - Red Handed
Sierra Nevada - Hoptimum
Stone - Enjoy By
Green Flash - Hop Head Red
Victory - Dirt Wolf

There is a Modern Times tap takeover at one of my local taprooms. I limited myself to 3 pints.

Critical Band IPA - Meh. Easy drinking but pretty much nothing there.
Attack Frequency IPA - A step up, good juciness but nothing special.
Mega Blazing World - Very good hoppy amber, best of the three.

We made it to the Funkatorium last night. Cool place but sours are still not my thing.

We went over the main location, and it was cool. They have very good food.

We will probably get to a couple of the other ones downtown today before going to New Belgium tomorrow.

I've been trying to cut back lately. Found myself having a beer nearly every night after class, and when you develop a taste for specific, high quality beers that cuts pretty deep in the wallet.

Anyways, the bike shop I work PT at is expanding and adding a brewery. We have a local brewery equipment manufacturer here in town (Crawford Company) and they're going to use the brewery to highlight their best equipment. Expected to be serving beer in mid-March and the bike shop will open in February.

There's also another brewery opening just down the road from my office. That makes ten craft breweries for a metro area of 300,000 people. Seems like a lot.

Thank you for your recommendations. I am going to see if I find some of these in Tampa.
There is a place near me that has Cigar City Jai Alai on tap and I bring my growler with me whenever I go.

My favorite beer is Stone Ruination. Also enjoy Lagunitas Maximus.

We went to a taproom for lunch that had a lot of local Asheville beers. We then went to Burial and Green Man. We also made it to Vortex Donuts. Good stuff, but all the beers are running together. Kind of done with hops until touring New Belgium tomorrow afternoon.

Went to New Belgium yesterday. It probably has to do with money and being established, but it was the best tour and environment. I have never been a big fan of their beers, but I enjoyed it. I tried some beer that I haven't had and really liked them.

We didn't get a chance to make it down to Sierra Nevada. I need to take a break from beer for a few days.

You should really get up to New Glarus some day. Their tour is pretty damn awesome, and I have a feeling that it has something to do with both companies being employee-owned.

Grimm Sugarmaker.
This imperial milk stout is dope af. So smooth. Strong vanilla.

Stone Vengeful Spirit IPA is delicious. If you like the citrus hops, give it a try.

Yes it is. Really tasty stuff.

Had my last 2016 BA Double Uncommon Stout from Bent River on Saturday night. Really sad about that as all of the 2017 bottles were infected. Also had Boon Kriek by Brouwerij Boon, which was just a fantastic cherry lambic.

Any new breweries since last year in Knoxville?

Abridged Beer Company opened a couple months ago (100 Lockett Rd.). The beer wasn't bad and their food looked good from what I saw. Can tell they are still getting used to their new equipment. Has a patio with a few picnic tables and inside has several seats. Nice addition to west Knoxville.

Hexagon Brewing Company (1002 dutch valley dr). Another new one that opened. Located in a warehouse district north of 640. Typically has some food trucks. Liked their alter ego alt beer the best but didn't have anything that I thought was bad.

Round6 Brewing (427 whitecrest dr) in maryville is fairly new too. Haven't been there yet.

Elkmont exchange and clinch river Brewing should be opening soon in the downtown area.
