I never understand why people don't realize these are indicators of poor coaching.

Because Holly is a likeable person and an important part of Lady Vol history and too many fans can't objectively separate Holly the person from Holly the coach....

Any word on KK? Is she injured and is it true the coaching staff is going for a medical redshirt? There had better be some major player development in the 4 and 5 positions or we will be hurting next year.

My wife and I have tickets to the Vanderbilt game in Nashville and I fully expect this game and most all the remaining games to be a struggle. Looks like LSU and Georgia are up and coming.

This is just a very predictable Lady Vol team. I for one am tired of Nared driving to basket out of control who either loses the ball or gets called for a charge.

Look, this team, was ranked 14/18 preseason. We worked our way up to #6. We had a great win over SC and Texas. Our loss to Tex A&M was not a good one, but our other losses are to top 5 ND and Miss State.

We've beaten everyone we were supposed to except Tex AM and we beat a few teams we weren't supposed to (SC and Texas).

We seem to fall apart in Q4 in the games we've lost. Not sure why. Blame the coaches if you want, but don't control the TO's, missed layups/shots, or defensive lapses.

We are a team that relies heavily on 3 freshmen and 1 JUCO transfer. Our seniors are doing what they are supposed to for the most part every night - both averaging close to 17 PPG. Our next 3 scorers are the freshmen - all averaging close to, or over, 10 PPG.

All 3 freshmen come back obviously, plus Jackson, who is having a breakout year IMHO. Add to that a trio of McD AA's coming in and the future looks bright, even tho we lost great talents in Russell and Nared.

I just don't get all the doom and gloom. Holly was never going to be the force of nature Pat was. Let's be honest - Pat never excelled at teaching creative motion offense, and Warlick and co. have struggled on that account.

BUT their recruiting has been stellar - 7 McD AA's in 2 classes total. Unprecedented.

Bottom line, we are a legit top 10 team, and our last 2 recruiting classes are great. I don't doubt that there are better coaches out there, but I'm not sure there are better recruiters for our program. I hate to throw cold water truth on things, but it's unlikely this program will ever be a dominant force again, just like UCONN probably won't be once Geno leaves. But for us to be a consistent fixture in the top 10 and give ourselves a chance to win the big one is about the most I believe we can expect in the short run.

The best reason for not losing your mind over the loss to MSU is the fact that they have a very good coach and they have a more experienced team. MSU is a top 3 team. We must be real, the Lady Vols are a top ten team with three freshmen and a JUCO player contributing a bunch. The fact is that as a group Tennessee has the best group of freshmen in the country. Meme contributed a little last year but not as much as is expected of her now.

This team is in the process of growing up and should not be totally judged by 19 games. They are also going through the toughest part of their schedule and the lack of experience is showing through. We need to look at this team and see where they are in March. If they end up in the elite 8,that should be considered a very good season.

If you struggle with motion, or any other offense, find out why and learn how to improve in that area. A lot of teams play motion offense so figure it out. That is why Holly makes around $800,000 a year.

They will be hurting either way. You don't replace 6'6 easily. MR has been a great Get Out of Jail Free card for a few years, and they will need to get creative to compensate for her absence.

DAAAAMN... There is A TON of reach in this thread. This program is as good as dead. Miss. State just boat raced Holly at home. Miss State.

This LOSER admin has sat back, made the EASY hire once Pat retired and has now become a mid tier team in the conference they owned since the beginning of collegiate women's bball... and y'all make excuses.

Have fun watching this garbage. Just add it to the growing list of garbage on the hill.

:rock::rock:We will not be ready for the big time until CHW is gone. We have allowed the "former"
best women basketball teams ever under Pat Summit sink to this level under CHW...folks it ain't going to get any better.
The next thing you will see is attendance dropping below 10,000 per game...we used to lead the nation every year.
When is CHW going to do something about turnovers?
Both Kara Lawson and Andy Landers were critical of the LV on TV today while "delicately" avoiding the blame on the coaching of CHW. I have had it with CHW...bring on the softball and baseball season.

Today we got exposed. State is good. This is what will happen to us when we play real good teams. This is the best LV team we’ve seen in a long time. We are not ready for the big time.

I think holly should do something fairly radical with this team. Make Davis the go-to player rather than Nared. Nared has been struggling, so, take some pressure off of her. What’s there to lose?

Davis shot 3-10. She wasn't any better.

Can anyone tell me if they have seen ANY improvement in this team since the beginning of the year?

In ANY player?

Has defense improved?

Has offense improved?

Has Holly shown she has a clue about how to fix any of it?

All good points, but the last paragraph explains the frustration longtime, loyal fans are feeling. Spending your entire adult life in one endeavor (and observing firsthand the best in your field whether your own head coach or opponents) ought to prepare you for the mental aspects of the game.

And it shouldn't take this long for a head coach wanting to earn her big bucks to take the steps you describe. The LV program sells itself with its history, facilities, fan base, national brand and exposure, etc. Any enthusiastic, innovative, ambitious young coach would jump at the chance to coach such talent.

Those who say the program can never return to a dominant level underestimate the status and attraction the LV program still commands and the potential for a return to the top. I'm sure there were those who said that Alabama FB would never return to Bryant levels after he died.

They were wrong.

We got beat off the dribble about 20 times. Didn't matter if we were zoning or in man defense. Throw in all the turnovers and the stagnant offensive sets, and we resembled a rec-ball team. Just..embarrassing.

I'd say this four game stretch has proven the Lady Vols are NOT a top ten team....

Their three loses were close until today. Even Notre Dame was a game till the last four minutes. I think if we play TA&M and ND again we would win! JMO

It was obvious who had the better team today. We have ten more games and we should be in all of them and should win most? I got us being 23 vs 6 going into SEC tournament. I don’t think anyone is going to want to come lay us! Just Saying 😁

Finally got some good freshmen in here and lost a trouble maker or two. Much better this year than last. But CHW cannot coach these talented new freshmen to be winners because she doesn't know how. She tells you after every loss. "I don't know what the problem is. I don't know what to do." Yet so many of you think it will be different tomorrow. It won't! She was a good player, a good asst. to Pat, and a nice person. But she is not what you need as a coach of a Power 5 school. UT still has the name recognition to hire just about any coach out there. Why do we continue to settle for a mediocre coach? Maybe our new AD will do what needs to be done, I hope so.

Miss State has two 6' 5" coming in next year. We can't get one. I don't call that good recruiting.

Phillip Fulmer is far from a joke. He has done-- and continues to do-- a lot of good for this university and its athletic programs.

ND outscored Tennessee by 37 points after the first 13 minutes. I doubt ND spots them such a huge lead again. It wouldn't be close IMO.

They'll have a shot at TAMU again. I think it's 50-50.
