Before anyone loses their mind...

Look, this team, was ranked 14/18 preseason. We worked our way up to #6. We had a great win over SC and Texas. Our loss to Tex A&M was not a good one, but our other losses are to top 5 ND and Miss State.

We've beaten everyone we were supposed to except Tex AM and we beat a few teams we weren't supposed to (SC and Texas).

We seem to fall apart in Q4 in the games we've lost. Not sure why. Blame the coaches if you want, but don't control the TO's, missed layups/shots, or defensive lapses.

We are a team that relies heavily on 3 freshmen and 1 JUCO transfer. Our seniors are doing what they are supposed to for the most part every night - both averaging close to 17 PPG. Our next 3 scorers are the freshmen - all averaging close to, or over, 10 PPG.

All 3 freshmen come back obviously, plus Jackson, who is having a breakout year IMHO. Add to that a trio of McD AA's coming in and the future looks bright, even tho we lost great talents in Russell and Nared.

I just don't get all the doom and gloom. Holly was never going to be the force of nature Pat was. Let's be honest - Pat never excelled at teaching creative motion offense, and Warlick and co. have struggled on that account.

BUT their recruiting has been stellar - 7 McD AA's in 2 classes total. Unprecedented.

Bottom line, we are a legit top 10 team, and our last 2 recruiting classes are great. I don't doubt that there are better coaches out there, but I'm not sure there are better recruiters for our program. I hate to throw cold water truth on things, but it's unlikely this program will ever be a dominant force again, just like UCONN probably won't be once Geno leaves. But for us to be a consistent fixture in the top 10 and give ourselves a chance to win the big one is about the most I believe we can expect in the short run.

This post came too late fro me.....I had already lost my mind.

You have to at least try to compare apples to apples. Louisville has one player (Asia Durr) that we would have possibly recruited or taken. On the other hand, I'm sure Louisville would have taken just about ANY player on our roster if they could have signed them.

You must not follow Lady Vol recruiting. If you did, you would know that the Lady Vols desperately wanted Louisville’s freshman point guard Dana Evans. There have been other LV players we have recruited. Former LV player Bria Smith comes to mind.

I may have lost my mind, but here are the results of our non-cupcake games---

Edged Marquette by a basket
Beat TX
Beat Stanford
Beat So. Car.
Lost to TX A&M
Lost to ND
Lost to Miss. State

The good news? We beat as many cupcakes as we should have.
The bad news? None, really.

The middling, so-so news? Four out of seven wins, around 57% positive, against
teams ranging from fairly good to very good.

The sky is not falling, but there's a lack of rainbows, sunbeams, and unicorns.

Stanford has lost 8 games and is unranked
South Carolina was without arguably the best player
Marquette has lost 6 games and is unranked
Mississippi State game was barely competitive
Lady Vols have one great win over a good Texas team

Not a true fan good riddance:cray::cray::cray::cray:

Yeah right, there are so many other lady vol fans who have given up on holly as coach, the stands will soon be nearly empty. You will have your choice of seats, you should be happy then.

Our roster is much more talented than theirs and many other teams ranked ahead of us year in and year out, yet we continue to underachieve.

It's not about raw wins and losses. It's about what you do with what you have. You can have a 20-2 record and underachieve similar to Lady Vols 1999 team, Baylor's 2011 team, and UCONN's 2017 team. You could have an 10-12 record or something similar and overachieve if you have a team of players that are by and large over matched every night. It all depends on the personnel.

If the 1992 Dream Team had got the Silver Medal, would anyone on here have said "Oh, nice, in the LAST Olympics, we got the Bronze - THIS is an improvement"? No. You'd be pissed off that we underachieved with all that talent. Same thing here. We should be doing better with what we have.
I beg to differ for at least the past 3 years they have expected Lville to do well. They have been ranked higher than us and they failed to meet expectations. This is the first year they have lived up to their billing. Wonder if their fans threatened to boycott, fire the coach? There are some that would hire him as our coach! Go figure

They also wanted Durr

We shall see.

Attendance is down about 3.5% from last year, close to the annual average 4% decrease over the last 10 years. Attendance has deceased by 40% since UT won it's last NC.

The good news is that the last two games averaged just under 12K.

Was MS St game about 13500? May have been largest attended game in WBB this season..??

Attendance is down at basically all schools. This is a by-product of increased TV coverage and availability.

Even SC that is leading the county and just won a natty is/was down in attendance (even though they are basically giving tickets away).

It isn't just that Holly is running fans off.

Streamed games are hurting attendance as well. It is just to convienant to watch on TV or the Internet rather that driving to the center, paying for parking, paying for tickets, and fighting traffic. I would prefer to participate at games as a fan if I could but won't argue that watching from home and participating on a forum is enticing to some.
