You're making it too complicated....let me help...they're saying that PEARL took the Vols EVERY year to the NCAA TOURNEY...as opposed to Coach MARTIN, who has taken the Vols to the NIT (First round loss) EVERY year so far...yeah Bruce topped out at Great Eight with some wrenching last second losses...you're right...we'rebetteroff...sooo let's just make the tourney and go for that Sweet Sixteen...it'd be ALMOST like the first time...I'm sure Bruce would stink at Chapel Hill...we're way off :)

if CM was really smart he'd bring in Byrd and steal his offense from him. Don't have any idea why you'd stick with a 20 yr old stagnant offense when you can watch a team move and cut enough that would give your skilled players opportunities to shine and open up room for your average players to look good offensively.

Belmonts offense is largely predicated on having players 1-5 be able to make the 3, they took 37 threes yesterday, if this Tennessee team jacked up 37 threes we'd lose every time.

I agree...facts are on my side...Bruce didn't lead us to the tourney every season he coached? And Cuonzo has? In what universe are YOU right?

Its the movement and spacing that you missed. And actually, jrich, McRae, hubbs, and Barton among others would see more open looks and lanes with ease

Yea, I was thinking the same. I heard Joe Biddle on the radio this morning, and he said that Byrd recruits alot in Indiana. He looks for anyone that can shoot the ball.

I like the style, but it isn't for everyone. You can shoot your way out of games doing that. I think it is a great atyle for a mid-major.

Again, you can't laud Pearl's accomplishments without acknowledging the mess he left for Martin in the wake of the NCAA investigation. He is not without blame for our plight the last two years. Conversely, neither is Martin. They share the blame.

That's exactly right. You get hot and you can slay the giants of college bssketball. You get cold, and you get run out of the gym, but no one notices because you were supposed to lose.

It still requires 1-5 to be able to shoot, look at his players. Maymon and Stokes would not work in that offense.

How many scholarships did we lose?...the recruits we lost were due to the change in coaching...his last season was a mess that he had to take responsibility for....after admittedly lying to NCAA investigators....but this was no sinkhole that Martin had to fix from the ground up...he hasn't shown coaching chops in his time here...compare it to what Roy Williams inherited from Larry Brown at Kansas...much worse situation...with probation and tourney ineligibility...good coaching shows with what's on the court...hoping we see a glimpse of that this year

We didn't lose in the first of the NIT his first year.

Not that it matters in the grand scheme of things.

The "lost in the first round of the NIT" is the worst argument that is consistently brought up on this board.

Winning a game in the NIT is the definition of "kissing your sister."

It sucks we didn't make the NCAA tourney the last two years. Can we not just leave it at that? I'm not sure what is worse - going to the NIT or fans making a huge deal about losing in the NIT? I mean how do you motivate a team to play well in that thing?

Exactly. If Half Season can't motivate his players until February, what's the use in getting up for the NIT? I mean, it's not like a part of his job description, right?

Yeah I did whiff on that one...must have faded from my memory after MTSU...so Cuonzo owns Savannah State...I'll concede the Sweet Sixteen is inevitable :mf_surrender:

So losing is better?...sounds right....gotta write this gospel down

There ya go again, acting like a child with name calling. Pathetic, as it was with my original post that got removed, especially since he's still coaching big boy ball as opposed to calling names behind a keyboard. Find his contract and tell me where it says*"get players up for the NIT".
