Watched Gangs of New York again last night. A little long, but I'd put that one up near the top. Plus I liked the era it represented.

Gangs of New York is an amazing movie. I despised Leo DiCaprio before that movie.

Embarrassingly, I’ve only watched Goodfellas, Casino, The Departed, and if you cosider American Gangster and Blow Mob/gangster movies. I’m going to watch The Godfather tonight. Out of those I’d rank the following.

1. Goodfellas
2. American Gangster
3. Blow
4. The Departed
5. Casino

You had never watched The Godfather before? Transformative! Recommend reading the novel afterwards. So much they couldn’t squeeze into the first installment. The backstory about the making of that movie is fascinating also.

They’re each the best in their own way. The Godfather is like this nostalgic masterpiece while Goodfella’s has more dynamic characters.
