Best Whiskey

Thanks for suggestions. I was thinking in the 50 dollar range which I think is what he pays for his JD?

What is the difference in taste between Gentleman Jack and the usual Jack Daniels?

Gentleman Jack is much smoother than no7 (it goes through the charcoal mellowing process twice)

I like Buffalo Trace as do a few others here

Dont buy a lot of Scotch but I picked up some Highland Park. My dad used to keep some in his cabinet and said it was very good for the price. Good stuff, particularly for a bourbon drinker. Its on the lighter side. Not peaty or earthy. A little sweet. But still has good depth. I definitely recommend it for the price

Slightly OT but speaking of apple cider there is a seasonal drink you can get that mixes Angry Orchard Apple Cider with Cinnamon Schnapps. It'll warm you right up in the winter time.

So Costco has bourbon (7 year Knob Creek) and a 40 year scotch (Glenlivet, I think) in their Kirklands brand.

I'm not sure if I love that store or if I fear them.

Currently sipping some George Dickel "Hand Selected Barrel, Aged 9 yrs" ... very smewth. But it costs almost twice what I pay for Buffalo Trace, so this can't be a regular thing for me.

I don't drink anything but Templeton Rye. Made in Templeton, IA. Small batch rye from a prohibition era recipe. Claims to have been Al Capone's favorite whiskey and was poured across the country during prohibition.

It tastes great, that's all I care, though.

"Barrel Select"? Or have they come out with something else?

Yeah, I've had Barrel Select and liked it but this was slightly different, with the 9 yr about the same price as Barrel Select -- 40-somethin, and the 14 yr even more (I know there is also a 12 yr, but it was a more modest 20-somethin price).

This is "Hand Selected Barrel, Aged 9 Yrs" 103 proof, bottle #131. Very smooth, can sip it neat without my esophagus being cauterized in so doing. :good!: :hi:
