Best Whiskey

Saturday the 25th is Robert Burns Night -- time for a wee drappie of Scotch. I was not a fan of Scotch, but find that I can drink the "Speyside" ones ... Glen Fiddich, Glen Livet, etc.

I'm new at drinking whiskey. I've always been a beer guy, but so far I've tried Evan Williams, Evan Williams Honey, Jack Daniels No. 7, George Dickel No. 8, Crown Royal and SoCo liqueur.

I pulled George Dickel for my first time, and that was a life changing experience. :)

But, my favorite so far has been Jack Daniels. SoCo was different, but I couldn't drink it because it was so sweet.

Enjoy exploring. If you want a cheap but drinkable whiskey to start, try Evan Williams 1783

I will keep that in mind. What are some of your favorites?

And TNsnyper, what is a good scotch to try?

I haven't really dove into many scotch's to be honest. Johnny Walker black and blue label, Glenlivet, and Glenfiddich are the ones I've tried. I've liked each of them.

Whiskey on the other hand...yum. Makers mark is by far my favorite because of price and quality. Plus the makers mark grill on 4th St in Louisville got me hooked. Wild Turkey, knobb Creek, Buffalo trace, single barrel Jack, and makers 46 are all Worth a try.

Welcome to the brown liquor brotherhood.

Maker's Mark is definitely this board's favorite from what I've seen. I have to try it, probably this weekend. I remember seeing where they cut their alcohol but decided to keep it, is that right?

How do you like Jack?

Glad I can be apart of it! :)

They were going to try, but quickly decided against it.

I like Jack Ok, but it's not my favorite. JD single barrel though is quite good imo.

If you want Pappy, but can't get Pappy, keep an eye open for W.L. Weller. Their premium bottle is the same bourbon that you'll find in Pappy 15 year, it's just aged 12 years instead of 15.

For real! The ones down here only come in red -- am a bit surprised I haven't seen LSU purple here, but I seriously need some orange, which surely would taste even better.

Just be thankful you don't have to put up with these puppy fans. They are abnoxious! (Really big understatement here)

From what I understand they only do the special editions for Tennessee and kensucky.

I also have this for those of you who appreciate the orange wax. :)

I'm able to get my hands on some JD Honey tonight... Not a fan of sweets but I guess I'll try it. Any reviews fellas?

Close. I believe blend that Weller with some other barrels to make their 15.

But that info has now made Weller impossible to find. Which ****ing sucks. It was my favorite and inexpensive enough to drink everyday
