Best Whiskey

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll absolutely look into this one. Always good to get personal recommendations.

Not cheap, but a huge, smooth, smokey, peaty masterpiece of a scotch. My wife isn't a scotch/whiskey drinker, but she loves the smell of Lagavulin or Laphroaig.

Islay is my favorite region by far. Most of my collection is Islay. I love all of them. This is by far my favorite...

You guys are awesome. Thanks to you I now have the first two Islays to add - Ardbeg Uigeadail & Lagavulin. Can't wait.

What is your favorite Liquor store in Knoxville..I'm a creature of habit to a fault...i started going to Bob's 40 or so years ago and until recently remained loyal....even when I lived out of state I'd make an effort to shop there on my pilgrimages home along with doctor, dentist and auto tune ups when possible...it helps that they've always had the lowest prices for what I drink....

However...I now live on Norris....and I don't drink that much so I did some comparison shopping for someone closer and have found 'Pops' on Emory a good second choice behind Bob's.....it helps in that the owner and a couple of key employees worked at Bobs for years....the store is set up like bobs and that they will meet almost all of Bobs prices....

Not an aficionado...yet...but Knob Creek and I made good friends last weekend :)

Just purchased tickets for the Sarasota Whisk(e)y Obsession Festival next weekend.

Whiskey Obsession Festival

Very excited to try new scotches, especially those recently recommended by folks here - Ardbeg Uigeadail & Lagavulin. Can't wait.

I cannot remember the name of it but the best whiskey I ever had was clear with two parts hydrogen and one part oxygen. It is very refreshing :)

Had some of the Doublewood 17 year last night. Was excellent. It was part of a scotch and cigar pairing class; fun stuff.

It's getting hard to find at the $50 point, but it finishes so well, I won't quibble at under $60. Classes like yours make me wish I lived closer to civilization!

Where was the class?

It was part of the Whisk(e)y Obsession festival in Sarasota, FL. They offered a few breakout sessions as part of the event, and that was one I attended. Had a great time at the event but my mouth was numb at the end.

Nice. Sounds like a good time.
