That is very classy. Doubt they'd do it for an SEC rival, but still...

You don't think they'd stay and listen to Rocky Top??

Agree that there are bad and rude fans everywhere. Been to LSU, UGA and UF stadiums. Worst was the UF for myself. Had the misfortune of sitting in the last row of UT fans in the endzone and the next row started the UF fans. So, I caught holy hell. Understand that too. Big thing was we were not only flipped the bird by one or two fans but all of the corner portion of the Swamp. Really a sight.

I've heard horror stories from other fans about LSU and also UGA. Believe it a mixture of what we may have been expecting, projecting in attitude and I guess just which way the wind was blowing that day. Sometimes it just ain't your day.

Been many places and met many fans. And to tell the truth I have met more good Gator, LSU, Gamecock, Bulldog, etc. fans then bad. The bad ones are the ones that tend to stick in the memory. When you go to a stadium filled with 60k, 70k, 80k or more fans you will run into thousands of great fans but you will remember the two assholes that ruined your day. That is human nature.

In the end I and many other fans just hope for a good game hopefully with a win for our side.

I believe if you review the thread, uf loses.

I'm almost certain if you're a gator you'll proclaim victory.

What a pathetic group of classless, arrogant, ignorant, rude, crude, vulgar & uncivilized fans many of their students are.
>>GRANTED ALL SCHOOLS HAVE CLASSLESS FANS, uf HAS WAY, WAY, WAY TOO MANY THAT SEEM TO RUN FREE RANGE<<

In my opinion there is absolutely NO place in SPORTS, the SEC, the NCAA, the Proud South, the United States of America or the free world for some of the actions many in their student body routinely & freely exemplify.

A sad commentary on the class of student behavior that's obviously been accepted by a fine educational institution of the South.

Hey, I don't mean to close the thread, just the way I feel about some crazy fans taking a fb game way to serious.

What happened to simple class / common sense ruling our behavior?

The funny thing about this thread is that if you had asked me a year ago who has the nicest fans in the SEC I probably would have said Vandy. Unfortunately, a lot of those same people who for so many years were nice to the point that I never ragged them even once about how bad their team is have now turned out to be nothing but a bunch of royal horses' asses. They are still calling in to radio sports talk here in Nashville and crowing about "the win". This year I am making a point of going to the Vandy-UT game no matter where it is played (Coliseum or Dudley Field) and even if I have to buy a season ticket to for Vandy. I am going to go to Goodwill and buy an outfit completely comprised of orange garments from head to toe. For anyone who wants to see the rudest fan in the SEC just look for me during that game. I am going to do my darndest to sit in a Vandy section and I am going to be an obnoxious jackass. I will hoot and insult, without being profane, the entire game. Assuming we win, I will even stay after the game and taunt the remaining Vandy fans in my immediate vicinity and I will jeer at them in the parking lot.

Okay, so maybe I really won't do it but I would sure like to.

Personally, I give it up to Vandy for the TOTAL insulting "whipping" they laid on UT last year & for the impressive season they had in 06. C'mon look at their talent level vs ours / uf's (they were cheated out of that victory).

My beef w obnoxious fans is not them calling into the local "radio talk show" and crowing. I'm talking about out & out throwing of beer bottles, whiskey bottles, wine coolers, open spitting on, spraying of liquids, personal insults, direct confrontations, etc. to opposing fans.

My friend THAT is the definition of a jackass.

Of course, I truly feel sorry for you having to endure such verbal torture.

It sounds like the activity you are concerned about is all illegal stuff and those who engage in such actions are just plain criminals. Getting back to the Vandy fans, I was intially glad for them when the beat UT in a very weird way. I had hoped that they would make a bowl and have that exceitement as well. Unfortuantely, they did not get their bowl game so it seems they have decided to make beating UT in 2005 the capstone of the past 21 years of Vandy football. I have no problem with a little rah-rah, but some of their "fans" have gone off the deep end. I am personally looking forward to us righting the universe and kicking the living crap out of VU this year. My days of exercising magnaminity towards the black & gold crowd are over. Once we put the 'Dores back in thier place I will be all up in the face of any identifiable Vandy fan who crosses my path.

I hope you have the opportunity to go to Big Pill (Benn Hill) Griffin Stadium in Goberville one of these days. Seriously, it will make you appreciate how rough LISTENING to some of the Dore Fans really is.

My friend, that one venue has to contain 65-70% of ALL the jackasses found in all NCAA Football games on any given weekend.

I believe win with class & lose w class is the best practice. I still cannot understand why UF, the SEC, the NCAA, or simply some of the decent gator fans don't do something about their unruly fans...

Wishing you the opportunity to be revealed to what a jackass REALLY is!

Thank you, thank you, thank you !!!!!

The reason that the Vandy fans suddenly seem obnoxious is that they beat you and they rubbed it in. This is why UF fans "seem" to be more obnoxious to you folks. Its because we are competitive with you. Other schools' fans are inherently just as obnoxious as Gator fans. Gator fans just have more opportunity to push your buttons and therefore antagonize you more often.

If we were doormats in the SEC in football year in and year out, no one would say anything bad about us. But in this thread there's all these whiny comments about Florida being a bunch of Johnny-come-latelys. Face it, Florida threatens you and has done so for a decade. This is why you demean the program by saying it has no tradition, its fans are jerks, etc. ...

Florida is going to be around for a long time and with its size and resources be successful. Get over it. Get used to it. And quit blaming the fans for it.

With all those resources, UF has still only won consistently under one coach.

That's because Zook was there for three years and was mediocre!! Ergo we got rid of him!

Now the team is back in the hands of a decent coach. We will see if he can get us back to the national level.

I agree that Spurrier put us on the map. I'm just saying that I personally think that we are going to stay there.

What happened the 50 years before Spurrier got there? Can't blame that on Zook.

Sorry but you couldn't be more wrong. Re-read the posts and see that most voting for UF were because of specific, classless incidents while in Gainesville. That is what I base my feelings on, the way I was treated as a visitor. I don't base it on the comments on message boards or anything like that. It is the only venue I have ever been to where I felt physically threatened and where I, and my girlfriend at the time, had cups and bottles thrown at me, was spit on, etc. It does not happen anywhere else on so large a scale.

In all of the 50 or so Gator games I went to -- and I admit they were mostly in the 80's and early 90's -- I can honestly say I NEVER once saw anything remotely like that. Not once!

Were idiot kids drunk? Sure. But pn both sides and no one threw punches or bottles or anything like that.

I'll tell you a funny story, though. This past bowl season I went to the first-ever conference championship game for C-USA here in Orlando between Tulsa and University of Central Florida. Hey, it was a beautiful day.

anyway, there were these UCF kids siting/standin in front of us the whole game. Two guys, two girls. The guys were drinking a lot and yelling all sorts of obscenities at the Tulsa players, coaches, and cheerleaders. They were showing off for the girls who had zip interest in the game but enjoyed seeing and being seen.

About midway through the third quarter, and as their torrent of idiotic vulgarities continued and now focused on the Tulsa cheerleaders, one of the boys leans over to his buddy, and says "Hey! I think I'm getting into the heads of some of those cheerleaders!"

Too damn funny. Yeah, you go mess those cheerleaders right up. LOL.

WRONG, WRONG, WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!

Please re-read my posts of attending various games w uf that YOUR fans act as jackasses. In most cases, I could have cared less about.

Regardless of win / loss record, to be an absolute a--hole does that REALLY matter?

If it does, please explain.

You guys have played the University of Nebraska once (at least in recent times) and they consider uf the mother of all jackass schools.

Real....

Now we go from criticizing fans for the University of Florida to generalizing to them from fans of the University of Central Florida simply because they are from the same state?

Weak.

I'm not saying it's a view I hold, I'm just analyzing what I read. I'm pretty confident that most of the posters ripping UF would extrapolate it out to Floridians in general.

Was UT always, or at leats usually, the opponent in these games? Or did you just go to random Florida games? And, if you didn't care about the outcome, why did you go in the first place? You mean to say that, even in non-UT games, there wasn't a little bit of desire on your part to see UF lose just 'cause?

Come on, you aren't fooling anyone. You see bad behavior in UF more because you are a) looking for it more and B) want to see it more so as to justify even more the conclusion you already want to draw, which is, simply put, that UT ius "better" than UF. If not on the scoreboard or athletics generally or academics, or on the ESPN page (that apparently hates you, right?), then at least you can say the UF fans themselves suck.

Well now that was a helpful and well thought out comment. Don't forget that our colors are really awful, too. And therefore that means we have small penises, by your logic.

Good luck to you guys in the Kentucky game. I do hope and expect it to be a good one.

I am sorry for going off on this but I thought the thread itself was sort of an insult and then it just seemed to go on and on and on and I just cannot believe that the knowledgeable fans on the site really think that there is a meaningful or measurable difference in whose fans are the "worst." It bugs me that UF fans are singled out so much because I really do think it is less a function of an accurate generalization and more a function of seeing us as your most consistent rival.

I agree with you to a point LawGator, but I have friends who went to Ole Miss who are always completely arrogant regarding anything having to do with their school, including the football team, and I give them hell for it even though they have not challenged UT for a long time. I am not sure what the problem is with the Vandy fans. Maybe a lot of them really wanted to be jerks all these years and they were just biding their time, waiting for a chance to back up the attitude? I really don't know. I am just surprised and perturbed by it as someone who has attended a lot of games at Vandy (probably considered them my 2nd favorite SEC team for many years until going to college in Georgia) and even donated a little money to them for several years becasue they let me use the law library when I needed to. As for the UF fans, I have no idea if they are any worse than other fans. I think I have said that some of my worst experiences at college games have been at Neyland while some of my best have been in Athens. I have been to Jacksonville for Ga-Fla but I have never been to a game at Gainesville. After reading what a lot of people say about it I am curious and I may just try and go to a game there this year. I have a feeling that as long as I am not a loudmouth idiot I probably won't have any trouble.
